Froch would beaten Calzaghe if they boxed in 2008

Calzaghe beat a Prime Kessler tail end of 2007 before he had Managerial issues and long layoffs. Froch had to go life and death to beat a past prime Kessler and lost.

It sad Mikkels career went the way it did because he is a lot greater than his resume suggests, He could have had some solid wins if only he signed up with a decent promoter.

 

I think 2008 Calzaghe beats any version of Froch.

I won't go into the stylistic reasons why as I and many others have done numerous times before, but, the KD against Hopkins - that was a perfectly timed punch catching Calzaghe coming in. Froch doesn't have the speed or timing for that shot.

 

Froch fought Pascal with a perforated ear drum and cracked rib too, he couldn't risk calling it off as it was his first title shot. Don't think he had the experience to beat Calzaghe or even trouble him back then though.

 

I'm a fan of both, but firmly believe that Calzaghe would have been way too much for Froch. Froch should have lost to Dirrell, and did lose to Ward.

Joe would have been a nightmare, coming in and out at different angles, 100+ punches a round. Froch would be lucky to win a round, it would be an easy UD for Joe.

How would Froch have done with Kessler in 2008? He lost to an older more tired version in 2010.

Calzaghe was retired. Forch was offered the fight just prior to the Calzaghe Kessler fight and he turned it down. Froch had his chance and bottled it.

When Froch was offered the Calzaghe fight ****** wanted options on him if he won. Froch didn't want ****** having the rights to future fights/match making.

no it was offered much earlier when froc was subnational, for a "world title defence" of joes title. following this, frochs british and commonwealth title defences were better than joes world defences.

in fact, froch was joes mando straight after Kessler and joe ran from the fight. pretty much the opposite of what you wrote.

 

Everyone is entitled to their opinion have no issue with Froch unlike many on here in entertaining fights and certainly a really good career.

But back in Dec 2008 Froch certainly had his break out win against Pascal on ITV many boxing fans suddenly took an interest in him people should be honest about that.Good for Froch a massive jump from watching his fights tape recorded on Grandstand between races on a Saturday afternoon.Guess you remember those days folks?

Calzaghe would have won a very wide points decision at the time and many would of said why did he fight Froch he brang nothing to the table at the time.Boxing is a business at the time and reflective matches are just that.

Calzaghe would of got no credit for schooling Froch and on reflection maybe it was lucky for Froch he didn't get that fight.
