1 reason why not many people want to fight GGG is because of the low purses.

I agree. He's in a catch 22 situation right now. He needs a big name to up the amount of money he can draw in, but without the draw power he won't be able to get a big fight.

 

Exactly, Loeffler talks a tonne of **** saying fighters are ducking GGG but then he offers them peanuts to fight him.

 

If I were GGG at this point I would take a 90/10 split with Cotto for FFS. Adding his name to the resume will make him way more than any fight would...

 

This is largely true and has been the case for a while. People say Sturm ducked Golovkin for a couple years but purely from a financial situation, Sturm was being asked to take a much bigger fight against a better opponent for the same money as his alternatives. So did he duck him, really? Maybe that is by definition. But surely one can negotiate themselves out of fights and I feel Golovkin has done this multiple times (not as often as his desired opponents, I'm sure, but he has frequently enough himself, apparently).

 

I agree 100k is ridiculous but blame Monroe's manager Geale got a touch under 600k.

Well if they're offered 100k to fight Golovkin or 18k to fight a scrub, one can still say they left 82k on the table to fight a lesser opponent. So it all depends on specifics and case by case basis. We will never know.

 

Geale was recently former unified champion at the time. Clear cut top 5 MW.

Too much of a risk for not enough reward. Same reason everyone gets ducked. Rigo is even more of a bad risk/reward.

 

If that's a shock think about what Cotto would ask for and demand.
