A genuine world class amateur; I know the transition isnt always smooth however I hope he goes on to have a good career.

The loss to Jack Catterall was a heavy one as we all know; but from what I have read he is a dedicated pro and a lot of boxers have nothing but good words to say about him.

His next fight is a local derby with Tommy Carus on the Frank ****** bill next week.

Just curious what people see for him in the next few years? I for one hope he fufills his obvious potential.

Think he thought he would do better at the Olympics and many thought he would tbh.

Came up short and turning pro at 28 time was not on his side without the publicity a medal at the Olympics would have brung.

Now 31 and really have never seen him as beyond domestic level in the pro ranks.Must win fight against Carus.

For me he is a good example of a fighter who is very well schooled and smart but lacks natural and physical talent of a world class fighter. I think he will fight 3-4 years and maybe win a british title but that's it. Nice little fighter but too limited to do big things and too boring to sell tickets.

He has a great following in Liverpool think thats one of the reasons Hearn initally signed him.

I agree with the power point also; I have watched him and just been itching for him to land a big shot, with his style (low hands) he would carry a lot of danger with a bit of power.

I also agree big fight against Carus, I seen a recent photo on the MGM instagram of him looking a lot bigger than I have seen before so hopefully they are working upon the power thing.

He is an interesting case and hope we see more.

Stayed amateur far too long as he didn't have the intangibles needed to be a quality pro which he could have developed a bit more if he turned pro a few years earlier

This perfectly sums it up, exactly how I see it.

Seems like a decent guy and as has already been said, all other pro's only seen to have good things to say about him.

But he did turn over fairly late & I don't think he has the pop in his shots to get above domestic level. He's still learning the pro game though and Catterall is a good fighter himself, hopefully he can prove a few people wrong.
