Tell you what to do. Get a life instead of living in your pathetic revisionist fanboy fantasy land. If and when you do, come back and try to post something sensible instead of re ****ed garbage about stumpy little 205 lb Joe Frazier being a giant killer. Off you go now, there is a good kid.
It looked like Frazier could punch to me as well. Based on your ( and others)criteria Frazier would get knocked out because Buster knocked Tyson out and Tyson had a great chin - well Ali only ever got knocked down 4 times in his career once in the FOTC with a left hook which Ali is quoted as saying is the hardest shot he ever took next to Earnie Shavers. If Frazier could knock Ali down i'm pretty sure he had the power to knock Buster down maybe more than once. I think there are a lot of Tyson fans who still cannot understand how he lost to Douglas. Well a big part of the battle when facing Tyson is the psychological battle and having a gameplan to outbox him. Tyson was exhausted by the time Douglas knocked him out with an incredible combination. Yes it would have knocked down Frazier but other ATGs such as Joe Louis, George Foreman and Rocky Marciano may have been knocked down on that occasion too after 10 rounds. If you want to talk about Tyson's iron chin maybe it would be fair to mention that Frazier never failed to beat the count and was only ever knocked down in 3 fights. Also Tyson was knocked down in 4 fights and only ever managed to beat the count once ( against holyfield) Frazier wouldn't tire after 5 rounds the way Tyson did in Tokyo against Buster. Maybe Tokyo Douglas really was the GOAT and only ever showed it on one night. I don't believe that at all. No boxer ( not even Tyson) is guaranteed to win a fight especially if their training is sloppy and they underestimate the opposition. Another point to consider is that Frazier from the FOTC would be a HARDER fight for Douglas than Tokyo Tyson would be. Sure Douglas would be a very tough fight for Frazier but Frazier beat the greatest stick and move boxer of all time in the FOTC - so I give Frazier a big advantage. .
Are you insane? I despise the cretin, but I live in the real world, the one which tells me that scumbag though he was, is, and always will be, in his prime he totally destroys ANY version of Frazier anytime between 1 minute, and 9, NO LONGER. He had more of EVERYTHING and hit harder, faster, and more accurately than Frazier ever knew about, much less being capable of. For a start I simply don't know where you get this Frazier was better at inside fighting than Tyson stuff from. Just look how easily Tyson pushed the heavier, stronger and bigger than Frazier, Stewart off into punching range when he tried to tie him up. And that was AFTER Douglas had KO'd him, never mind the prime version. If you think Tyson would just lay on the ropes and let the weaker Frazier put his head on his chest and wing away to the body, throwing the odd left hook over the top at his head, you couldn't be n more wrong. It would be suicide, Tyson would uppercut him to death, much like the desperate one he hit Douglas with at the end of the 8th round. Oh, sorry, I forgot. Joe is dead, therefore he must be elevated to being the 2nd or 3rd greatest Heavy who ever lived. How silly of me not to have remembered that.:roll:
Firstly I didn't claim, and neither do I care who was the " better " puncher. I am saying categorically that Douglas hit harder with both his jab, and his right hand than Ali did. If you disagree, well good for you, again I don't much care.
To put it plainly, yes. That is the kind of pure nonsense the revisionists think you are stupid enough to believe. In all of his fights that went past the half way mark Frazier looked like he had been hit with a baseball bat, and even he and his corner men used to say it took Joe anything from 3 to 5 rounds to get " smokin" Yet these guys would have you believe he would fight flat out for 15 rounds, and slip any shots that came his way. They might just as well cut to the chase and call everyone who doesn't buy their revisionist clap trap idiots. At least then you wouldn't feel sorry for them.
Okey, yeah I disagree, I think Ali hit harder with his right hand. The fact that you think differently won't alter my life, nor does it upset me, but sure I care for your opinion, as I do for every poster's opinion. If I didn't care for what other people had to say it would be rather pointless to come here, don't you think? So if you want to try and convince me I'll listen.
I suppose that was one of the reasons? But really you should ask him what he means, all I know is he stated that Douglas hit harder than Ali and I argued against it, don't know why you find that so strange? Let's get on with the discussion instead, do you see Douglas winning? If so, why? Douglas proved to be a great boxer that night in Tokyo, but Frazier at his best, with his tempo, work rate, inside fighting, body punching and ability to cut of the ring was a nightmare for boxers. A big enough puncher could knock him out, but I don't think Douglas was that, and I don't see anyone outboxing Frazier. On that basis I'll go with Frazier by decision or late stoppage.
I don't find it strange at all. What I would find strange is if someone picked Douglas on the sole basis that he hit harder than Ali which Buster may have done. I'm not really concerned why Foxy picked who he did , he wasn't arguing with me .
Lol what a ****ing joke. Frazier was only knocked out twice and it was by arguably the hardest hitter in history and it was past prime. He wasn't even counted out. Douglas is doing what Foreman couldn't do
A **** poor joke impersonating Tyson nearly (and technically actually did) KO'd the best Douglas ever, the best Frazier ever would win walking away.
Ok lets make it easy for you nostalgia driven Frazier fans. Name the 6'4" 230+ lb fighters that Frazier DID beat. Then we will decide whether or not those fighters were worth a cup of cold pi ss in comparison to Douglas. Is that simple enough for you?
This argument kind of falls into the Tyson wasn't at his best against Douglas argument. You could say what exactly happened to Buster in his next fight? Just who else did Evander 1 punch ko as a heavy? Why was Buster so sloppy and why didn't he bother to get up? Is it back to the just one magical night argument? And then if that fighter does not have his "A" game that night, he resorts to a C or D grade heavy everyone beats? Obviously it wasn't his "B" game because he slips way below that level to lose. Back to the thread, Joe does him in with bodywork. Drains the gastank of Douglas. And Buster is not absorbing round after round of body punishment & Frazier walked through opponents, unlike Tyson. Mike would stop and re-set himself. Not Joe. The most overlooked punch in boxing is Joe Frazier's right hand. He only threw it to the body. And he hardly missed. Extremely accurate with it. Just don't look for that punch to the head because he rarely threw it. Ko9 & a forgone conclusion after about the 6th round when Joe starts smokin and Douglas is weary.
Also if height and reach always decides a fight then how did Douglas lose his next fight to a cruiserweight?
So after all that NOBODY can list ANY Heavyweights 6' 4" 230 pound plus that Frazier beat. What we DO know however is a 6' 3" 220 lb Foreman smashed Frazier to nothing, twice, with ease. We also know that Douglas smashed the stronger, heavier, harder punching, faster than Frazier, Tyson quite comfortably. What he did in his next fight has no relevance, though personally I admire Buster for taking a fairly innocuous right hand from Holyfield, counting his millions as the ref was counting ten, and going fishing. Well done James, and screw the fans, fight game leeches, and other assorted hangers on. You took the money and enjoyed it.
