Funny hearing the fanboys get their panties in a twist. There are plenty of top boxers who do catch weights, the greats Floyd and Pac have done it to full effect to drain their opponents and get a mental and physical edge. Ward bloody did it to Chad Dawson, who is already a huge LHW but managed to drain his ass to a catch weight.

GGG is doing the same exact thing to Ward. Do i like it, hell no, but leave off the hypocrisy fanboys.

This is how you say you don't want to fight someone without having to say it. We all know Golovkin said he'll fight anyone from 154-168, we all know he's tried to fight at the full 168 limit before. We all know that Ward just recently said that he might go to LHW. So when you hear all of these things and then you hear Golovkin all of a sudden say the fight needs to be at 164, then it's pretty obvious that Golovkin isn't interested in taking that fight.

The problem is that GGG is supposed to be looking for his shot at a big name and Ward is almost 100% not going to fight him at a catchweight that low. And Ward might be his most likely big name prospect given that the Cotto/Canelo winner is unlikely to fight GGG immediately after their fight, if at all. It puts the lie to the "GGG is being ducked by everyone" angle pulling a stunt like this. If GGG really wants the big names, it's pretty clear at this point he's going to have to be willing to sacrifice to get them. Otherwise, he's stuck fighting 2nd tier guys.

Golovkin isn't worthy of being Ward's sparring partner atm. He needs to prove himself at 160 or just write his own death wish by moving up without fighting a top fighter. Ward isn't an idiot, he won't drop weight for a guy that isn't worth it.

Thats too bad that Ward makes Golovkin like this. Its obvious how un confident team g is when it comes to him. If he was willing to fight jr at 68 then same should go for ward. I could understand if they said they didnt want ward as they're first fight at a higher weight... but making up a catchweight like this is a cotto move and not a good look for golovkin

No its not, its just GGG trying to throw his new found pull due to his popularity (far more than Ward has lately) in the sport around, just like everyone else has been doing lately. I'm sure you also think he's ducking Lara.

Ward-Dawson wasn't at a catch weight, and Dawson was the one who said he could make 168.

Ward could have faced Dawson at LHW instead Chad had to come down because he wasn't the attraction, Ward said he was happy to fight at the LHW prior to this.
GGG is the main man, a far bigger star than Ward, Wards career could be over soon and he should be begging for this fight at any weight dictated to him, why should GGG go to an untested weight for a guy that brings 0 fan base and money?
Froch would have guaranteed him a massive pay day, Ward is not on that level.

    GGG has:

    better HBO ratings
    sells more tickets
    has more fans

that is how he is the A side in this match up.

Chaves is the a side thats why GGG accepts to go to 168

But for ward he shouldn't HAVE to go to 168

All of that stuff is largely the result of Ward's inactivity (which was largely his own fault), but the differences are negligible.

Ward is infinitely more accomplished, and has actually beaten some elite fighters, whereas Golovkin never even faced anyone remotely approaching elite.

More importantly, however, Ward has a better negotiating team than GGG, and this cannot be disputed.
