^ You see what I mean when I complain about boxers being so inactive these days?!. If Lee, Macklin, Spike, Frampton & Co were fighting 5-6 times a year, ordinarily sensible fellas like Moorser wouldnt have time to be distracted by this MMA garbage....and it would be left to the 12 yr olds where it belongs....
Roll up ,roll up...contributions to the Andy Lee retirement fund gratefully accepted. Details released today of ticket prices for September. I must say Andy has a bit of a cheek saying how tickets are 'affordably priced' to reward his loyal fans etc. Totally overpriced if you ask me. For what view most people will have prices over €100 are ridiculous. Mind you given the proven stupidity of Irish people when it comes to value for money (as borne out yet again the other day by the mob who went to Las Vegas to watch that boorish MMA spectacle), you cant blame 'em for trying. The sheep are easily sheared! He DOES seem much bigger than BJS though - I hadnt expected the size difference to be that great. That lazy hoor Billy Joe should be at 154! I'm starting to think Andy might have a chance here!!! (Dont quote me on that though!!!)
Tickets are starting at e30 so as andy says its very affordable for a REAL WORLD TITLE FIGHT,so get yere ****s down to Limerick for a super night, saw Sweeney there today so he must be on the card as is Katie, will need a few big names on the undercard to shift a few tickets,Andy looking fit as is Saunders,no McGregor like insults flying around they will leave the talking when the bell goes.
Very few tickets will be 30 in fairness. What you will see from a 30 seat wont be worth the trip. Even most of the 125 ticket holders wont see much, I'd guess. I speak from personal experience of attending outdoor boxing events in the past. As for the undercard - they will skimp like mad to max out profit, as always. Lets hope sales are VERY slow and they are forced to put at least ONE decent fight on the undercard to boost sales. The obvious thing to do would be to have Spike on the card. Will they do that? Bet they will have Spike in the studio or doing 'colour commentary' some cheapskate thing like that. :-(
The T****nd event stands in stark contrast to Carl Framptons non-appearance in a southern Irish venue - and his non-event status in general down here due to a complete failure to market and promote him on this island (well the Republic anyway) Theres andy Lee - a guy who was born and reared in London and who has spent most of his life in other countries, speaks with a 'foreign' accent etc and he has a huge following here. Yet Carl, who apart from being a better boxer in the first place (no disrespect to Andy in saying that), is also born and reared on the island of Ireland and never lived anywhere else ---> and yet he is a relative unknown to most people down here in the Republic. As a result he is forced to go stateside while Andy pulls in the big gate here! Theres a lesson in all of this.
No, he wasn't forced to go state side at all. He had a massive PPV domestic showdown with Quigg that he could of had in Belfast on his lap - but didn't want it and chose himself to run away to Al Haymon. Carl Duckton would be a lot more popular if he wasn't a ducking disgrace.
You cant tell? :-( OK I'll spell it out for you then...:| Its that here in the shambolical Banana Republic that we live in, prosperity is inversely proportional to ability. Case 1 Least Talented/biggest 'star': McGregor a minimally talented tough-guy goon is a huge-earning superstar and a household name. Case 2 Moderately talented - moderate s****om: Andy Lee a reasonably talented boxer can apparently fill a stadium here. Case 3 Supremely talented - zero s****om: Our most talented pug - by far - Carl Frampton is relatively unknown among the wonderful Irish public.
I meant "forced" as in forced by his own/his managements poor decision making, poor judgement, poor marketing etc etc. I know about the Quigg refusal fiasco.
Seriously Dutchie its amazing. You cant open a newspaper or turn on a tv or radio without facing a media blitz about MMA 'star' conor McGregor. Will someone please tell me what his appeal is? I watched his recent blockbuster 'event' (by accident - on replay) and just what is the appeal? One guy sitting on another guys chest for 5 minutes trying to elbow him in the face???? Conor beats up a totally mismatched, very unfit, totally useless, tiny opponent who had 2 weeks to prepare??? Both eejits were totally exhausted after 1 round of an appalling spectacle of thuggery and scuffling. Yet Irish 'fight fans' cant get enough. Andy Lee, a decent high-level boxer has been around for a decade and he gets nowhere near the support Conor gets?? Worst of all, Frampton a serious real genuine world-class boxer-athlete gets even less support than Andy down here, never mind McGregor. Whats with Irish fans?
