I'm ammusing you think Witter is better than Malignaggi? I think Malignaggi would win a wide UD. 9-3 or 10-2.
I am assuming, as opposed to ammusing - but yeah I think Paulie is way overrated, and Witter would win. Not by KO, but UD - as Witter can sometimes be lazy.
Come on now, Castillo was not the no.1 contender on anything but the shittiest of paper. He lost his only other fight at the weight but got a gift. Hatton has plenty of business to take care of at 140 if he's to be looked back upon as a good champion. If boxing was like it used to be they would have had to fight eachother anyway and Urkal just to get out of europe. The talent is spread too thin and too much picking and choosing goes on. If he's a people's champ, do what's good for boxing, unify the division and take on all the conteders, **** circus show fights, they're always a letdown anyway.
What is Witter #1 based on what then? There's very little between him and Malignaggi. If we use The Ring, Witter is #1. But then you have to accept that Castillo was #1 when Hatton beat him.
Jack, what numbers concerning a Hatton/Malignaggi would you like people to grasp exactly? I'm curious. Just saying "Malignaggi's a better fighter" enough times doesn't make it true. His record compared to Witter's speaks differently. You're also saying that every piece of boxing media around right now has it wrong and you're right. And why does any boxing fan that deals in facts, even hard ones about a popular fighter get labelled a "hater"? I like plenty of fighters, but if Mayweather fights Hatton again instead of Cotto, I'd criticize him too, especially if he keep his number 1 status at welterweight. Like I said before, Castillo was as much the number 1 contender at light-welter contender when Hatton faced him as Hatton was the number 1 welterweight contender when Mayweather fought him. Their circumstances are so similar it's spooky. It sounds nice when you say but very few that know boxing really buy into that.
I understand the Hatton fans that think this fight should go ahead, even if they don't want to admit the obvious ducking The rest I can only presume are drunk football fans that are brainwashed by Hatton's PR spin
even if these points are relevant, that is purely your opinion. I would suggest the majority don't agree with your first point but there you go. Of more importance is that Witter is ranked higher. Why are you so insistent the Paulie fight would bring in more money, over a huge domestic showdown that would sell out any stadium in the country? Please explain this part. I presume you are not talking about ticket or ppv sales, considering evidence of Paulie's previous fight. Hatton is being a biscuit-ersed *****, that's the bottom line and only a few sackswingers are still making excuses for him. one last point - please refer to the polls in the general forum, digest it, and come back to us.
I can obviously only really speak for myself but I think a lot of people want the fight to happen but just arn't foaming at the mouth that it isn't.
Nobody is foaming at the mouth They are however getting pissed off with the excuses, and the increasing tendency for fighters to avoid the best fighters in their weight class with their fans justifying it with a whole array of pitiful excuses
Ok, how about "not getting as worked up"? JLC, Mayweather, Lascarno, PauliM is a perfectly respectable series of fights.
What are we supposed to do? Sit here and be entirely neutral on the matter? Would be boring as **** if people didn't have strong opinions either way, this is a discussion forum
