:deal Pro game does have additional requirements, in terms of chin, intestinal fortitude required for rough play, many more rounds, ability to keep in fighting shape with longer layoffs, body punches matter a lot more in longer fights... etc Its different, but Lomachenko has shown he can handle the pro aspect. Yeah he lost to Salido, but people forget that he also demonstrated quick learning on the job - he had adjusted and almost certainly would have won a 15 round bout, probably by KO.
Truth is I cant think of a recent fight that can match the caliber of fighter and skill set that will be combined in the ring as this.... maybe Im going overboard on Rigo/Loma but I just cant think of one in the last 5 years.
:good exactly, hes already fighting bigger fighters... now hes fighting an even bigger fighter, while also at a higher level of operation in terms of skills and ability of that fighter. Idk... its the fights only downfall for me. Again, not trying to be too negative, it is indeed a great matchup.
Yeh it's the skills that do it. The size and skills as a combo make it look unfair. Rigo fighting selby would look more fair. Even frampton, quigg and cruz are quite abit bigger than rigo.
Even if Rigondeaux didn't have to fight him (as in he was getting his fights at 122) wouldn't you still wish he did? It's absolutely a shame Rigondeaux is forced to go to such lengths, but on the bright side, it may be great for us fans since we get to see this!
I just don't know man, like I said Im really not a fan of mismatching sizes in fights when its obvious the bigger man is also an elite operator. It just waters down the fight to me and usually it just seems people will always try to see how far a smaller fighter can be stretched before they can no longer overcome the size/quality of their bigger opponents... Im just not down with that. Like it was said earlier, Rigo is already fighting bigger guys.... now hes going bigger and better on top of that. Ya, the curiosity part of me would always want to see it, same as Id like to see how Mayweather would do against Golovkin. But realistically I don't need to see these matchups at the expense of the smaller fighter.
Lomachenko couldn't handle Salido and you think he can handle Rigondeaux? Maybe, with the size difference in his favor this time he has a chance, but you are still asking a lot from this kid.
I think Rigo beats Loma... he's just that much more athletically gifted. The biggest problem is Rigo is too small.
Is it also a coincidence that many great amateurs turn into nothing as pros despite financial backing, promotional opportunity, and public expectation? If you rate amateur accomplishments then Zou Shiming losing to Amnat must be your Upset of the Year... Enjoy having that highly skewed perspective of boxing.
