Why did nobody care about Pacquiao until the DLH fight?

    De La Hoya also never beat a great fighter in his prime unlike Barrera.

    And IMO Barrera's prime was from the Hamed fight until the last Morales fight.

    But that's missing the point though. How can you get 500,000 grand for fighting Barrera who at the very least is as good as DLH? And then make 15 million for fighting DLH?

    I'm not insecure. I could care less about what Pacquiao makes in money. It's not mine.

    I just don't understand the business of boxing all that well.

    Because Oscar is a crossover star, guy's girlfriends and wives liked him because he was handsome and talked the right way. Only boxing fans cared about Barrera.:deal

    And Oscar is still better than Barrera.

    Pacquiao was on HBO by 2003 fighting Barrera, Marquez, and Morales in big fights. He even did a couple of pay per views before he fought De La Hoya. He was pretty well known. The De La Hoya fight just put him on a whole nother level, the same as it did with Floyd Mayweather, and to a certain extent Bernard Hopkins.

    Pac had a huge fanbase even before he fought DLH.

    ...and I don't mean just in the Phillipines, but over here and in Mexico too.

    Pac didn't even make it to America until the Ledwaba fight. I think that's when most fight fans caught wind of him and went for the ride.
    I think since then he was a must see fighter. The big pay and super s****om had always come with the higher weights.
