I still ranked Pacquiao no lower than #4 at WW after KTFO6. And I view him as an ATG legend. Most top 5 ranked fighters who will be remembered as ATG's don't need such a soft fight after any result. So, yeah, it was a cherry pick in my opinion. We all have opinions. You don't have to agree with anyone else's. Your opinion is that Rios was a big puncher going into that fight. I do not share that opinion either. Your last sentence, "it's not always who you fight its when you fought them" is something I would say to further my point. He wasn't fighting lightweight Brandon Rios from 2010. My opinion is that in Pac's last 10 fights, 3 of them are true "cherry picks." Brandon Rios happens to be one of them. Not that big of a deal. No need to get mad. I have not trolled to go about stating how I feel so any emotional response from you is unwarranted.
Clottey, Margarito, Mosley, and Algieri were the least deserving. The rest were legitimate and worthy opponents, not just considering their talent but also the circumstances Pacquiao faced at the time he faced them. Meaning those other six were totally justifiable.
How was Bradley a handpicked fight since 1) He gave Pac a loss 2) He beat Marquez 3) He beat Provodnikov 4) He had Pac's WBO belt
cherrypicking in terms of boxing is when a fighter fight the lesser threat available within his weight range. now, instead of these 10 guys listed, who the **** was pac supposed to fight at that ****in' time????
2 cherrys. Rios / Algeri. All others are top draw. Clottey a guy who many believe beat Cotto ( remember him? MW champ? ) a fight before. Margarito a 175lb beast who made floyd **** his pants for years. Mosley a fighter who just prior to pac made Floyd to the qu33r street dance from one right hand. A fully roided 147lb Marquez not a fat sloth that faced mayweather Bradley, a fighter that still is being ducked by Floyd. Those are some good cherrys....
I don't think he's really cherrypicked too many guys. Maybe some of those CW fights were cherrypicks in the sense that he should've fought them at the full weight limit (I still think he would've won all those fights regardless.) Some people make mention of Brandon Rios, but Pacman was just coming off a devastating KO to JMM. Is that really a cherrypick when you factor that in? It's amazing what's considered cherrypicking these days. I'd understand it more if he was taking on guys outside of the top 10 in their division, but that's simply not the case. I'm not thrilled with CW fights in general, but it's not like the guy is taking on tomato cans.
I was thinking the same thing although I agree with majority of people that it's not a legitimate lost, but it's still a lost on his record.
