Lomachenko Rejects Catchweight AND Rehydration Clause (Fight Dead?!?!?)

It's an interesting situation. Lomachenko has the upper hand here and doesn't have to concede anything. Rigondeaux has no obligation to fight Lomachenko, but he doesn't have many options at this point. Normally, it would be a no brainer for Rigondeaux to just go up in weight and fight Lomachencko with no CW or rehydration clause. However, he beat a more popular fighter in Donaire and his career came almost to a stop shortly after. So his team is going to have to decide how much it would help Rigondeaux's career if he were to beat Lomachenko

 

That's where I'm getting at. A guy like Rigondeax is not going to have thrilling fights every time out. So with that in mind, is it worth it to go out of his element and fight the bigger Lomachenko if he's kicked to the curb with after a dull fight, one fight later? Lomachenko doesn't represent that big of a pay check at this point. Rigo only fights him now if it can jumpstart his career. But what if beating him would do little for his career, then what's the point of taking the fight?

 

But is the guy to beat undefeated deal with it.

Rigo needs to agree to all of lomas demands.

 

The alternative is to take lower profile fights and bide his time. A loss is devastating in boxing, especially to a guy like Rigo. Just look at what a dull win did to him. You can just imagine what happens if he loses. Now of course, you have to take risks of you want to be rewarded. The question is if the risk is worth the reward for Rigo. Time will tell.

Wasn't Mayweather also criticized for fighting Hatton at 147? Aren't people saying he should fight Golovkin at 154? There really is no consistency when it comes to fighters of different weight classes. The standard changes depending on a person's feelings towards the fighters involved.
