Emmanuel Steward used a sauna story when defending and explaining Tommy Hearns' loss to Hagler. Steward said Hearns had gotten a massage in a sauna the day before the fight and said once he found that out, he was enraged with Hearns and figured they were in trouble... Not joking, either.

Read the book "Hands of Stone" by Christian Guidance on Roberto Duran. Great book. Duran had an excuse for pretty much every loss. Injury from a car accident, the IRS, I was weight drained.

George Foreman still claimed he was drugged more than 30 years after Zaire, and after he said he learned to "accept" the loss. My favorite excuse of his for that fight was when he claimed he was about to knock Ali out but got distracted by his friend in the audience rooting for Ali, and then the moment passed and Ali recovered.

It's understandable that fighters have excuses but it still makes for some great humor.
