    Floyd Mayweather 48(26)-0

Love him or hate him, you cannot disagree with the following:

    Mayweather's Greatness
Mayweather is an All Time Great.
UNDENIABLY One of the greatest defensive boxers of all time. Arguably the greatest Super Featherweight of all time.
He is in my Top 50 ATG list.
When Mayweather's career is over, I'll just sit quietly and appreciate the memories and mastery.

People say 'Mayweather beat over 20 world champions, 3xFighter of the Year, virtually at the top of the P4P list for over 10 years. Beat so many HOF's and very good opponents. Undefeated and on top since 1998'.

    1. I don't think you know the difference between a world champion, and a beltholder.

    2. Mayweather's only competition has been Pacquiao as there haven't really been any prime ATG's besides them for a long time other than Wlad. So who else is going to be the FOTY. Wilfred Benitez would have had the same treatment under this same landscape.

    3. The HOF's he beat were all past prime, or in a bad condition like Marquez.

    4. Floyd beat guys who did not possess elite skill or stylistic threats.

    Mayweather's Top Wins

W Genaro Hernandez (Genaro not a HOF - remember Azumah Nelson was PAST prime. Young fast Mayweather is obviously beating the counter punching Genaro. Still a very good win as he's a very good fighter).

Jose Luis Castillo 1 (In the opinion of most, Mayweather lost. Castillo is a stylistic threat. I am among those who believe Castillo won, but I can respect a case for draw but nothing more than that, it's still less plausible than a win for JLC - for a top ATG, I expect better though. JLC is a borderline HOF).

W Jose Luis Castillo 2 (It's about time. In history, the defensive counter puncher almost always does better the second time around against the aggressive pressure fighter - but still is a very good win).

W Diego Corrales (Corrales apparently drained - I haven't looked into the details of that. It was a demolition job though by Mayweather. Corrales not a HOF).

W Arturo Gatti (A HOF for being a blood and guts warrior - but this is not a HOF win, dumbos).

    W Sharmba Mitchell (Past prime)

W Zab Judah (a good win, never a very good win)

W De La Hoya (3-4 years past prime, part time fighter, stamina issues exacerbated due to ring age which allowed Mayweather to take over, been in too many wars, coke addicted and depressed - Pacquiao gets even less credit for the victory over DLH as DLH was drained, shot zombie. Mayweather's victory over past prime DLH is still a good win as DLH of 2007 would still do very well in todays era for example..it's just not THE DLH.)

W Ricky Hatton (very good win although Hatton is not a HOF by ANY means and IMO lost to Collazo).

W Juan Manuel Marquez (Fat, slow - didn't put on weight properly, stylistically disadvantaged, Mayweather weighed 4 POUNDS more in the weigh in - a weakened ATG.)

W Shane Mosley (can we laugh a second..a 2010 Shane Mosley :rofl very past prime, ancient Mosley. Pacquiao gets no credit for the Mosley win either. Margarito win was 1.5 years before this fight and was Mosley's last hurrah).

W Victor Ortiz (sucker punch KO..and it's Ortiz)

W Miguel Cotto (past prime, Mayweather won clearly this is a good win against a borderline HOF though, Cotto beat him up more physically but again, it's an old Cotto. Cotto beat a SHOT Martinez who should have lost to Murray).

W Robert Guerrero (slow plodder who cant even do pushups by the way, a routine win, next).

W Canelo Alvarez (stylistically disadvantaged, slow flat footed plodder who telegraphs his punches - barely no one in any forum gave him a decent shot of winning - Mayweather looked lightening fast with his reflexes etc. on point I'm afraid. I don't care how you try to cut the cake).

Marcos Maidana 1 (IMO a draw. take cards from the biggest Floyd fanboys - they can't even agree over the number of rounds that Maidana won. One will say he won round n1 but not n2, the other will say he won round n2 but not n1 - maybe he won round n1 and n2. Yet, Maidana came in over 160lbs I think so this needs to be considered. Mayweahter is stylistically disdvantaged and heavily outweighed.)

W Marcos Maidana 2 (Mayweather put it to bed - very good win, although Maidana is not a exactly what you'd know to be an elite fighter).

Manny Pacquiao (semi-shot. He started sliding since 2011, psychologically shot after the KO loss to Marquez. Torn rotator cuff. Still a draw to me. Don't you dare have a problem with people who say Pac won, they clearly saw shots that you were too slow to recognise, but can verify on slow motion).

Decent enough defensive counter punchers usually can compete in higher weight classes where they are outweighed by their opponent.

Mayweather fought weak opponents for years after the close fights with Castillo. He took the money route, NOT the legacy route.

    In regards to Longevity:
Longevity concerns RING AGE more than anything. This is why Archie Moore's longevity will never be topped. He was old, been in a laughable number of fights, in a time where people used to take fights once a week, with harder gloves, more fouling, 15 rounders, fighting with injuries, carry on punching without any room to get up after you've been knocked down etc.

Mayweather fought only 2 times a year. Compare that to De La Hoya who fought 5 times in a year against decent guys, compare that to old timers who fought a few times a month minimum.
To make it to age 38 and still be on top is still a good feat, but obviously Hopkins with a somewhat similar style can last till 49 at the top level.

Mayweather took a 2 year break to duck Margarito (a stylistic threat - handwrap or no handwrap), Paul Williams and prime Pacquiao.
He also didn't fight prime Casamayor.

A great resume, but doesn't compare to the very best of old, who fought the best.

OP, I'm a bit confused by your post. For starters, you have made several threads that go through great lengths to discredit Mayweather. It's hard to look at that and actually believe that you are even attempting to be objective here as you claim in your thread title.

You also seem to be intent to passing off your opinions as facts. For instance, you say people don't know the difference between World Champs and title holders. However, let's say you win a vacant WBA title. Your official title with them is WBA World Champion. You are then factually a world champion. You are disregarding this and instead implementing your own personal standard for what a world champion is and trying to pass it off as fact.

I'm also confused as to how you say he's an ATG and one of the best 50 fighters of all the time, only to follow it up by completely denigrating many of his accomplishments using questionable talking points.

    Pac's top wins.

Barrera-good win, but Barrera was in 60+ fights by then he was damaged goods.

Marquez-nearly all of these fights were robberies. marquez taught pac a boxing lesson, even though he's a million times slower.

Morales-lost the first fight, then beat a Morales that was coming off a loss and was shot, and also drained, he moved up right after.

Oscar-You thought he was shot against Floyd? Well he was drained and sick to death against Pac , Floyd fought him at LMW.

    Hatton-Floyd's leftovers

Cotto-Margarito's left overs after being brutally destroyed and quitting.

Marg-Exposed as a plaster cheater just 2 fights before, and BRUTALLY knocked out by MOsley, no credit at all.

Mosley-Floyd's leftovers and even older

Bradley-Decent win against a guy who's struggled at 147, even losing 4 rounds to Vargas, and drawing wtih Chaves.

I'm not reading that. I don't care whatsoever about Pacquiao. I'm not even a notable Pac fan.

I decided to read the first sentence and last paragraph of the TS' post to get an idea on his assessment.

All I had to read was that he believes mayweather "ducked" Joel casamayor to reach a pretty clear cut conclusion: this poster has no idea what he's speakin of.

That's because I'm objective. I'm writing reasons why the wins aren't what people make it out to be, but yet, they're still good wins in themselves.

No. In boxing history, the champion was always the one who was THE world champion, rather than one who has the fragmented belts, just because it's called 'WBA World Champion'

I'm not passing opinions here mostly, I'm passing facts.

You didn't even read the last paragraph you dumbo. I didn't say he ducked Casa. He chose a different wording there. He didn't fight Casa.

Nope. Never been a big Pac fan. I've always supported Morales in their trilogy, and Marquez in their four fights.
