Aethestically Pleasing and Ugly Fighters to Watch

This might be odd to some, but like to watch Cotto. I like his form and foot work.

Yeah, was going to say Rigondeaux. He's so lax and smooth in the ring, it's unlike anything I've ever seen from any boxer.

The way Cotto moves and lets his hands go is very easy on the eye.

Cotto has a very traditional form and style, but it's uniquely his own and he looks so natural doing it. For me, personally, Cotto has one of the most aesthetically pleasing styles in recent years.

Of the other names mentioned in this thread I just don't see it with Mayweather, Hopkins or Eubank. I find them pretty ugly, negative and frustrating to watch. Talented and skilled boxers for sure, but not pleasing to the eye in any way whatsoever.

Off the top of my head, for me, three of the most aethestically pleasing boxers ever are Thomas Hearns, Julio Cesar Chavez and James Toney. Those guys were true artists as much as anything else.

When I think of the truly great boxers I tend to think of them in the same light as the great musicians, the great painters, the great writers and so on because, boxing to one side, there is real beauty in the way they do what they do.

 

What's aethestically pleasing is a subjective concept.

Personally I enjoy watching the movements of Cotto, Pac, RJJ, Gamboa, JMM, Tyson, Donaire, and many others.

My list certainly includes fighters that can be stylistically wild at times, but that's part of the aethestic that I enjoy.

 

I wouldn't say Jones was 'pretty' at all. Or Duran really.

 

Rances barthelemy has one of the weirdest styles i've seen lately, being an extraordinarily good boxer.

The style miadana had some years ago is one of the UGLIEST and most horrible and bad styles i've ever seen in my life. Thanks god he has evolved.

Aesthetically speaking, rigo, floyd, ggg, chocolatito, frampton... there's a lot of fighters with very good style aesthetically.

porter has a very ugly fighting style. he's absolute sh*t
