I read the forums everyday and rarely post.. but jesus christ.. majority of you guys on the forum, even some of the respectable posters are clueless... Triangle Theories DON'T work in boxing. Styles make fights. Its not A > B > C.

If Calz can keep beter off of him and use his speed he wins. I think Kov is the tougher fight but he still wins. SD imo with knockdowns being the reason.

Kovalev is the goods but it's unfair to compare him with Calzaghe.

It's like comparing Keith Thurman with Sugar Ray Robinson.

See, the way I see it is Calzaghe never once faced a prime fighter as big, strong and with the power of a Kovalev. Combine that with his boxing ability and it's by far the toughest fight and matchup of JC's career. Kessler was the closest he would have have come, and there is no comparison. Can you see Calzaghe being able to push Kovalev onto the back foot? How do you think the exchanges would end up?

This myth that Calzaghe was unbeatable doesn't stack up against the realities here. He didn't face very many world class opponents in his long career, and this idea that it was only past his prime that he was beatable is also kind of silly as he was fighting mostly easy pickings(comparitively to Kovalev and Kessler, etc) and even took a seat against some of those guys. That said, his style would pose Kovalev some problems and he would have success in the fight, but to me the fact that Calzaghe was always there to be hit is hard to ignore.

I haven't seen enough of Beterbiev vs world class opponents to get a good feel. He looks like a monster right now, but lots of guys do against lesser opponents. He is huge though and packs a mean, mean punch, but let's see.

Beterbiev gets *****slapped for 12rds - He's too slow.
I think current Kovalev beats Prime Joe at 175lbs - Joe loses some of his speed at this weight. Don't say he doesn't, he does. Same way Roy Jones lost speed, same way Hopkins did.
Joe's speed is his greatest strength. Taking some of that away from him will be his undoing against the accurate and busy Kovalev. I don't see Kovalev knocking Joe out. I see him knocking him down a few times and beating him on points in a close affair.

calzaghe would defeat them by laughing that they were unworthy of a shot at his WBO title...and then he'd go off and figth Veit again.

Unified champ KO4clev and Bete would be stumped as to how to get him in the ring.

    Joe is a middleweight/super middle
some guys can only go so high up
those 2 light heavies are big for their division
    not a fair comparison

you appear to have a problem with people posting about calzaghe in a calzaghe thread.

explain why you are protesting about people posting about joe in a joe thread.

would you prefer people to post about Butterbean, Welsh ATGest ever Jimmy Wilde, or Bad Jack Broughton in a Calzaghe thread instead?

I rate Calzaghe but this is a stylistic nightmare, especially Kovalev who murders him, maybe literally.

theres no pain expressed in my post about calzaghe in a clazgahe thread, merely truths about joe ducking best LHWs.

you are overdue explaining why you are objecting to a post about calzaghe in a calzaghe thread.

    He wouldn't...
Both Beterbiev and Kovalev would knock him out.
