Beterbiev accepts Kovalev's challenge

Beterbiev should fight Stevenson for the WBC title, then fight Kovalev at 50/50.

 

Here is what Kovalev said to Artur Beterbiev(on the amateur battle): "When did you beat me, Arthur? In your dreams maybe? The fact that corrupt judges in Magnitogorsk gave you one point advantage does not mean anything and during our sparring in Russia's national team (all other Russian boxers can confirm it) your head was flown back down to your ass. You did not have the ***** to face young Chilemba, but preferred to fight the shot Spaniard whom I devastated in his prime and he is now a journeyman. You should fight real opposition and deserve the fight with me first and then I'll punish you for your conceit and your lies about beating me in the amateurs."

 

In a perfect world, we'd be getting Kovalev vs Stevenson right now instead. This fight with Beterbiev could have been built up to be the biggest clash in the division for many, many years -- a potential SuperFight... one that would leave the division with a definitive numero uno i.e. no loose ends with Stevenson, etc.

Anyway, still waiting for official confirmation on it. Michel said they'd definitely take the fight "if the offer is fair". That means he still hasn't actually received the actual terms from Duva yet.

In the end, if they don't find the terms "fair" then I hope Michel makes a counteroffer to Duva. A clash between Kovalev and Beterbiev is inevitable, regardless.

Either of these two fighting Stevenson prior to facing each other would have been preferable imo. But this is boxing, where we need to embrace the good fights as they happen. :bbb

 

I called this fight would happen after Pascal vs Kovalev, that it would happen before the year ends!!

This won't get done. HBO will absolutely look for options on Beterbiev. They aren't going to let one of their prized assets go up against a dangerous fighter, one he could lose to, without having a safety net in place.

I think Beterbiev has less power than Kovalev.But I'm 50/50 on winner.

 

Both have scary power but i dont think ive ever seen anyone with as much p4p power as Beterbiev. He knocks people out cold with next to no backswing

He's mastered the Bruce Lee once inch punch and packed it behind a 200lb frame of 100% pure beef

 

Too soon IMO. I want Beterbiev to gain more experience first.

Who does Artur supposed to get more experience from? They already turned down the Chilemba fight. Artur is about as good as his going to get. The only guy that could really test him are fonfara, chilemba, Pascal or maybe that new guy Gonzalez. He dosent take any of these guys out early and he gets drowned in deep waters. Artur is to me now the modern day Mugabi. A crude heavy handed slugger who has made his name on no hopers and past it name fighters. This isn't the ams, Kovalev will knock the guy out. Arturs camp is putting up a roadblock in hopes of prolonging Stevenson's reign.

 

I think they should let Beterbiev destroy a couple of more contenders to hype up the fight. But still very exciting!

 

Beterbiez-Gonzales in September then put him in with Kovalev.
