Well might have done a SbS (Second by Second) update instead Truly awful dive from Tupou. At least put some effort into it :|
This was actually a very entertaining card. It had TWO legitimate "Knockout of the Year" candidates, in Ugonoh vs Quarrie, and Parker vs Tupou. Horn boxed well in his fight, but I cannot believe it was stopped early because of that cut over his left eye, as it was barely bleeding and there was minimal swelling; apparently the ringside doctor (the most attractive one I have ever seen!) stopped the fight because she said the cut needed a stitch? Or at least that's what the badly confused referee said when he finally stopped the fight? Decent fight, ridiculous ending. Parker won his fight with a single punch, high on top of the forehead of the crouching Tupou, very much an equilibrium shot. Tupou came into this fight ranked #144 by BoxRec at heavyweight, and with the fight ending with a single punch barely a minute into the fight, I don't think we learned anything new about Parker, except that he needs to step up his competition, and most likely needs to take fights in Europe or America to do so. Until then, at least he is staying active, as per BoxRec he already has a fight scheduled on 15 October vs TBA. He is definitely a very exciting fighter, with a promising future.
Didn't realize this was on so early (early over here). Just missed it by seconds too. Edit. Had a quick check on Youtube mid post to see if someone had uploaded it and it's already up. I don't think Tupou has the best chin but for Parker to blow him out that early and in that fashion is very impressive. Really like Parker can't wait to see him in there with the top echelon of the division.
The thing is, for all Parkers speed and power, we've only seen his chin briefly tested, and being a Samoan warrior, I think it will be the strength that gives him some great fights in the future. After sparring Klitschko, he was very respectful, but said once he felt what the Champ had, and it didn't bother him, he knew he deserved to be there one day
What this guy said "I was skeptical, but watch it in slow-motion, frame-by-frame: Parker's right hand lands on or near Tupou's right temple - incredibly rare shot. Real."
Meehan in October - good solid fighter. Hopefully gives JP a few rounds. Maybe Ustinov in December. He's been to NZ and extinguished Tua's comeback, so might be a good sell. Tall guy with only 1 loss
Parker has Wilder/Wlad/Lewis esque power. Or.....Tupou has an uncommon Kiwi glass jaw that's just not been tagged proper. Im gonna lean towards Parker having that kindof power that if he catches ya midpunch, lights out. That shot caught him right on the frontal lobe. Wouldnt be at all surprised if Parkers broken his pinky knuckle and maybe his 4th as well.:think
