It's funny how things have almost come full circle again. There is a better understanding of nutrition and dare I say most boxers are more professional in their approach to the sport now, but as said modern training mimics in many ways the old-school era before fighters did weights.

I don't know about that. I do agree he'd be better, but mostly because he'd have access to performance enhancing drugs.
That is really for me where this big improvement in performance stems from.
Sure, some advancements, or rather refinements have been made over the years, but the nuts and bolts of it remain the same.

    No it doesn't.

If you take ANY athlete that doesn't train with modern methods and introduce them to modern methods they will improve in ALL facets.

    Speed
    Strength
    Power
    Endurance
    Recovery

    The list goes on.

Uh that is Jake LaMotta, he did fight in the amateurs as a LHW. Read a ****ing book, like his book where he says so. Also, you can read the actual newspaper reports as well. They arent hard to find.

Your gonna have to post a link because I've been searching for the past hour and can't find any record of that. I did find a record of Jimmy Reeves and Ezzard Charles winning the 1939 LHW and MW golden gloves.

I can't do the link, but one site(Tripod) says Jake fought as an amateur for 2 years, before turning pro at 18.

I saw that site and it doesn't look very reliable. They would have said something about the Diamond Belt which is a pretty big accomplishment if he even won it.

Jake Lamotta won the diamond belt in 1941 at 175 by beating Jim Miller. Thats the film in that link. Believe it or not. Either way those are actual newspapers covering his LHW amateur career, just admit you were wrong dumbass.

Hagler sure as hell didn't have traditional training. He had psychotic training.
