I can't think of any Hw champ with jaw more glass then Wlads
thats one advantage any past ATG HW puncher has over him is all they need to do is land once he's hitting the deck, if they land it twice Wlads waking up with a
    headache..
Who has a weaker chin then Wlads among HW champs?

How about if Joe Walcott and Archie Moore nailed him with good shots and he didn't go down?

Would that mean he had an excellent chin?:think

Taking a punch and having a glass jaw are two different things
if they were Wlad wouldn't have got knocked out when he did now would he?

One is the very definition of the other.

If fireman Flynn landed a right hand on wlads chin and he didn't go down flat on his back and have to be carried back to his corner, then he would have an iron chin

Not the weakest, especially if the alphabet
    belt champs are included.
But yeah, I don't think it's any secret that at best it's mediocre. He cannot absorb a hard punch without visibly showing distress and this has been why he had to completely revise his style.

Wlad hasn't been floored in 10 years a record for a heavyweight champion

How many more years does Wlad need to go without getting floored before you admit his chin is better than you think?

He lost to purity and Brewster due to exhaustion, not lack of a chin. The only fight he lost because his chin got cracked is by monster hitter corrie sanders...that's 67 fights only one loss due to his chin

    A few thoughts:

    1) Wlad's chin isn't great, let's be honest. But neither is it fine china. He can suck up a good punch if he has to.
    2) His defensive technique is superb, as are his ring smarts. That's the main reason why he's gone so long un-floored
    3) I agree that the Puritty and Brewster losses were more due to him not pacing himself than any other reason

    and

    4) Thanks for finally saying something nice about Sanders :good

he probably is the major champ with the worst one, but that said its not terrible, by sheer dint of being able to capture world titles and keep them it cant be appalling.

He has barely been hit during his tenure as champ, that's why. Point out to me where he has had to absorb some big shots or even one big shot.
He simply hasn't. That's credit to him being pretty sharp on the not getting hit end but says nothing about his beard.
When tagged hard, he has folded quite quickly...either early in a fight (Sanders)
during the mid rounds (Brewster) or late (Puritty) so however you want to slice it, the man was not built to abdorb hard punches.
I do agree that fatigue played it's part but it's just as draining taking punishment as Brewster and Puritty had to do as anything Wlad had to do. They survived but when they hit back Wlad could not.
There is little more to say on the issue.

its not really appropriate to look at his record full of terrible fighters

whenever he has faced someone fair and who can sock it fair too, his record tells a better story, its 3 wins, 3 losses, a 50% fold/loss rate.

Klitschko has been stopped three times, and dropped and wobbled more times than I can remember, all during a career in which he has faced NOBODY who can be considered a great puncher.

The man is chinny, and the fact he hasn't been flattened for a while is down to the absolutely dire, embarrassing collection of ''challengers'' he's faced; friendly referees regularly allowing him to demonstrate some crude, terrified hybrid of Greco Roman wrestling instead of in-fighting has helped too.

I agree. His chin isn't bad at all. He's taken some huge punches from guys who can crack. The guys who stopped him were all big hitters and either hammered him with multiple direct shots or took him out when he was tired and in every instance before he had upped his game. Ten years of facing top contenders and never getting dropped says a lot.

I agreed with suzie's above post but you've made some good points too. He hasn't taken too many big shots in the past decade partially due to his credit that he's been good defensively.. He did however take some decent direct shots from guys like Peter, Povetkin and a few others. His chin isn't stellar by any means but its hardly the weakest in my opinion.
