Same reason Golovkin does it. Because they can get away with it

He fights what's available to him at MW, top 10 fighters mostly. Wilder fights guys outside top 50, his only top 10 opponent to date is Bermane.

And he's actually got people willing to fight him, but they're still treating thid "world champ" like a prospect.

Christ, Golovkin fights proper opposition in the top 10. Stiverne was the only top 10 fighter Wilder has ever gotten in the ring with. in 34 fights!

You are right though. If you compare them to GGG, all other active fighters look like bum to me...

Bermane Stiverne: ''Wilder looks at the world rankings back to front''

''He's fighting cab drivers. A real champ goes down the list: Contender #1, 2, 3, 4 , 5, with him he goes the other way: 100, 99, 98, 97.''

    7:53 onwards

Not in this case, Wilder has the most protected resume in boxing today, probably the most protected resume of a WBC champ I've seen in over 20 years of following boxing.

In 5 years his level of opposition isn't any greater than what a prospects would be after 1-2 years. He has a single decent victory over Stiverne and somehow he is the WBC champ, it's laughable. 3 fights ago he fought Jason Gavern someone who's had 20 losses and lost 10 by KO :patsch

Usually we call out a fighter on these forums if he's ducking direct competitors or not going for a unification, Wilder is literally ducking fighters in the TOP 50 of his weight division.

He's a champion, he ought to start acting like one.
