If Mike Tyson was around today, would he be a bigger star than Floyd?

That's sort of the point. Few have ever said the 80's era was the golden age of heavyweight boxing. It could have been had it not been littered with coke fiends and lazy fighters but alas.
Anyway, the division was crying out for someone to come in and take charge.
Folks were sick of dreary 15 round bore-fests.
Tyson cane along at the right time and he had exactly the type of persona and exciting style people were looking for.

I agree...Berbick is about on Stiverne's level. But that isn't the point.
I don't know why some on here are so super defensive.
It was a hypothetical question and Klitschko wasn't even mentioned.

No because people aren't stupid. They can tell the difference between the real thing and a pretender. There is nothing interesting about Wilder at all.
    Tyson fascinates people even now.

You really, really ought to watch more Pinklon Thomas if that's your honest opinion.

I think he beats both Stiverne and Wilder by clinics

I posted the names of several dudes outside the current top 30 that in my view would give him a hard fight. He isn't stopping Takam or Thompson, but would he outbox them? No, not in my view. He'd be a solid C class guy today.

Clearly, you (On the Money) are an agenda based troll like MVC. With a similarly vacuous knowledge of boxing.

As to the question at hand, of course Tyson would be more popular than Floyd if he were around today. He brings two things to the table that Floyd never does: excitement and personality.

How is Thomas not better than fat ass Arreola? Pinklin had a great jab and a solid chin, Tyson was the first man to drop him, Holmes should've fought him..Tyson would be as big now as he was then, a true knock out artist, **** if he came out of retirement for a one off today he would make stupid money..

Even in his prime, Holy and Lewis BOTH thrash him. Again and again.

Tyson is a bigger star than Void even in retirement......................Tyson was an exciting fighter, Void is boring, refuses to fight anywhere except his town, Vegas, he referee, judges, boxing commission, etc., Void always gets everything he wants..............

You're entitled to your opinion, and they maybe guys outside the top 30 that would have troubled him. I haven't got an issue with that. My issue is that you said you wouldn't rate him in your top 30. Well if that's the case, I'd like to see your top 30. Because in my opinion, despite there being some great potential match ups to be made, the division as a whole, is weak.

Why? What are the glaring weaknesses in Mike's prime style that led you to this conclusion?

    Exactly.

So what would Mike have made if he was prime today?

$25m in 1988, was crazy money.
