Gomez, however, did not discuss the backup plan for the HBO PPV bout at Madison Square Garden in New York. But according to sources with knowledge of the offer, Golden Boy is trying to secure former world titleholder Bermane Stiverne (24-2-1, 21 KOs) as the opponent for Ortiz (22-0, 19 KOs), which is an even more attractive match than one against Jennings. Stivernes last fight was in January, when he lost a decision and his world title to Deontay Wilder.
