Glowacki was doing very well until Huck landed monstrous left hook to the temple, deadly punch... Glow legs was gone, it was very difficult for him to get up (he got up like between 7 and 8) and when referee said "nine" he stumbled back to the ropes. I thought: "Oh ****, he is ****ed the ref gonna stope the fight", but David Fields (huge props to him) gave undefeated fighter an opportunity to continue and we all know how the fight ended. I hope all referees (especially British) take note of this fight. Some people may say that David Fields could have stopped the fight and it would be ok, because Glowacki looked really wobbly at "nine", but I think the ref didnt stopped the fight because: 1. Ref knew Glow was winning the fight, so he wasnt some sacrificial lamb... 2. Krzysztof didnt take a lot of punishment, before that punch landed. 3. Glow was undefeated and there was no info about his chin and ability to recuperate.
Should Huck be dominating the entire fight and gave Glowacki beating troughout all the 6 rounds, it would be ok to stop the fight. Not the case here
good points, i agree. I like it when refs give the fighters a chance to continue to fight even if they beat the 8 count. Even if they are still a bit wobbly, some fighters have a way to make comebacks or recover. IF he doesnt protect himself and start getting beat a few seconds after the fight is continued, then the ref can jump in and stop it, then i will be okay with it
agreed 100% countless fights could have ended up like that if not for having the plug pulled on it by a nervous ref half the douche bags on here would have defended this ref with typical "he was gonna finish him anyway" bulls.hit had they stopped the fight in the 6th round :-(
Absolutely, I also think Glowacki was very lucky that he could move forward when the ref asked him to, or else he would have stopped it. But I was confident the ref would continue the fight, maybe because I knew the result before I watched the fight lol Yes, this fight had a very good ref.
Glowacki looked so bad at 9 I wouldn't have questioned the ref at all had he stopped it then. But what a decision it turned out to be, and what a fight. Gotta give it up to both guys, can't think of many better fights i've seen this year.
