Benn or Eubank ...

Entirely different fighters but winners and each one incredibly entertaining to watch in their own way

Plus they both would win against foreign opposition and give us pride

When they fought each other I didn't have a favourite I wanted to win but just wanted to watch their fights

 

Eubank; brilliantly played the villain, who when it came to the crunch found a way to avoid defeat (in his pomp).

I was a part of Watson's fancy after the Lee fight, so always considered Benn the enemy.

 

Eubank just loved his attitude more self made than benn.

 

I was too young to really get into it sadly but I would've hated Eubank's antics and loved Benn's intensity and ferocity.

But now no one can't deny the contribution both have given to British boxing.

 

Eubank had a way of JUST doing enough to win most of his fights

He would never try and win by anything more than he needed to exert

I liked it when he went to Germany once and really played the crowd - and won

 

Benn. By far, too.

Didn't think he was something he wasn't. Unlike Chris.

Was a "man of the people". Unlike Chris.

Was always entertaining. Unlike Chris.

Fought the very best. Unlike Chris.

Was always must-see viewing. Unlike Chris.

Benn by a landslide, a country mile, etc.

 

But when they faced each other (twice) he couldn't beat Eubank

I can agree with your reasons above for favouring Benn but if it was by a country mile as you say he would need to have beaten Eubank at least once IMO

Eubank was physically and mentally too strong for Benn when it came down to it

 

By a country mile, I mean for me - he ticked all the boxes.

Benn beat a better fighter in G-Man than anyone Chris did.

Besides, Chris never challenged himself against the top yanks of his time (even though he shared various divisions with them for like 7 odd years) and, bar Benn and Watson, he lost the rest of his big fights.

 

The second fight, Benn won, ruled a draw, but Benn had that fight for me.
In answer to the question, Nigel Benn is probably my fav fighter of all time.

 

He loved his personality so much he 'found' religion.

Like all people, he went off to America and linked up with everyone's friend Ambrose Mendy

Ampara, Williams, Morgan and Malinga... It was always entertaining!

Nunn, Toney, McCallum and Jones; he fought them all.

 

Toney nearly made Chris cry on national television.

Benn was supposed to fight SRL in '89 but Duran got the fight (iirc?)

Fought McClellan who was MORE feared THAN ALL OF THEM. Chris and his team wouldn't go near him!! Who were they fighting instead? *insert euro-bum here*

Benn did beat Eubank by rights in the rematch but got robbed.

As a younger thought Eubank was a weirdo didn't really get him.

Benn was just a geezer
