If Mike Tyson was around today, would he be a bigger star than Floyd?

Azzer has to go back in time to find reasons why Mike would beat Povetkin. I only care about Povetkin now, Azzer, not 2010 or earlier, and right now he is a beast of the ring. The question was: if Mike appeared on the scene TODAY, not if Mike showed up in 2009 or 10.

Was it not you who mentioned Tysons opponents from the 80s? And now your talking about 09/10.

I believe its called changing the subject.

Nice try, now please provide me a proper response to the points i made.

Does this cat seriously think these current heavyweights would even dare enter Tyson's realm? they'd be just as good as dead :)

Sure, he would be boxing's biggest star.

I don't see how Floyd is popular. He is not an attractive product: boring style, talks stupid things and doesn't have anything special about him. At least Oscar could appeal to latino crowd.

Povetkin is far bigger and stronger than Tyson was.He would manhandle him.He has better technical skills as a successful gold medalist.Tyson wasn't good enough for the Olympics.Povetkin only has one loss to Wlad while Tyson had 6.Wlad has the best heavyweight jab in history and would of been the hardest puncher Tyson fought.Tyson would of quit on his stool after to much punishment.

Tyson is still a bigger star than Void could ever dream of being................he was very entertaining to watch, Void is boring and needs his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, always his venue, etc.

Povetkin isn't that much bigger than Tyson.

Hes a couple of inches taller with a few inches reach advantage. And a bit fatter, as if that's going to help him

Tyson has beat bigger fighters than Povetkin.

On what basis is Povetkin stronger than Tyson?

Povetkin has poor technical skills in relation to Tyson. This isn't even a question.

Tyson wasn't good enough for the Olympics? How is that going to benefit Povetkin when Tysons homing missiles are landing on his chin?

Povetkin only has one loss.....to the best fighter he fought, who dropped him like a bad habit. Do you remember what happened when Tyson fought a 38 year old ATG with a similar style to Wlad?

Wlad is not the hardest puncher Tyson fought, Lewis and Ruddock hit harder.

Tyson would have ****ed Povetkin up.

    1. I wouldn't say that Pov is far bigger and stronger.

    2. I certainly don't think he would have manhandled Mike.

    3. With regards to the Olympics, it's always hard to do direct comparisons. Mike was only 18 in 1984, whereas Pov was 25 in 2004. Could Pov have made that U.S.A. 84 team? Likewise, could Mike have made the Russian 2004 team? They're interesting questions.

    4. Comparing losses at this stage is pretty pointless. Mike retired 10 years ago, whereas Pov is obviously still active.

    5. How does Wlad have the best HW jab in history?

    6. I don't believe Wlad punched harder than all of Mike's opponents.

    7. I don't think Mike at his best would have quit on his stool against Wlad. I think he'd have found a way to get inside and then taken him out.
