Real good fight, southpaw(Winky) vs switch hitting southpaw(Hagler). I say the Marvelous one over Winky by a fairly close, but convincing unanimous decision or even possibly a late tko.
Winky is a stylist with the chin and tight defense to go the distance with anyone. I don't see Winky sustaining an offense to win this one. Winky has to push Hagler back and hurt Hagler to win. Thats not really his main game (although he did go to war with Taylor). Hagler is one of the roughest mean steel chinned champs ever, so that aint happening. Plus Hagler has the more varied offense, jab and movement to box from the outside and if Winky decides to mix it up Hagler has those short body blows to punish him. Winky's stingy shell defense keeps Hagler honest early on but Hagler pulls away to win a clear UD 9-3. Winky gets stunned pretty bad in the very last rounds but makes the distance.
As tight as Winky's defense is and is good as his chin was, he would still get stopped by Hagler. Winky does not have the firepower to keep Marvin from keeping the pressure on him all night. Winky would not be able to take the kind of heat Marvin would dish out. Hagler TKO in 8 or 9 rounds. (This is against prime Hagler. Against the Hagler that fought Leonard, Winky might go the distance and lose a wide decision 10-2 or so)
Hell i think Vito Aunterfermo, or Mustafa Hamsho could have beaten Wright on a good night, let alone Hagler:nut
