Before he met Hoost he had a DQ on his record. The man had TWO PROFESSIONAL FIGHTS before fighting ERNESTO HOOST in K-1! That takes *****, son! And he only lost to Nog (after nearly killing him!) and Fujita (he nearly got Fedor out of there, remember!). So to discredit Sapp, the Sapp from back then is simply stupid. Between 2002-2004 he took on... Nog (baddest dude on earth at the time) Hoost (twice! beat him, too) Sefo (K-1 great) Le Banner (same) Remy (same) Mirko (same) That's a two year novice who, ok, got laid out by Mirko, but damn well proved himself against the rest. That's a murderers row of fighters, man!
Bob Sapp's entire career is a joke. His reliance on his size and his lack of following the rules was a disgrace. His size was the reason why it took more than a couple of seconds to knock him out or beat him. He gets so much hype by intellectually deficient people for the beating he gave the ever so easy to hit, slow (weak), lanky Nog, and the feather fisted plodder great Hoost. Aside from that he was not any good.
I have to agree with you on this one. Sapp at one stage was a very dangerous fight for anybody, even if it was just to his mountainous size and insane strength. His string of embarrassing losses later in his career are imho, due to him having mentally "given up". He may as well have been there punching a ticket in and out of the ring for showing up. That's why Cro Cop is kind of disgusted with Sapp. His win over Bob was very good at the time, and what Sapp has done since then has devalued that win.
Takes courage to do what Sapp has done. Pro fighting has broken him and his quality of life will be seveerly effected because of this. He basically gave up his golden years to entertain us.
Yup, kudos for even stepping into the ring. I hope that he's better off than Gary Goodridge. It was fun when Fedor was pounding away at him ... not so fun when you see the long term results of that damage :verysad
Nog was a human punching bag. :deal Hoost was a weak, feather fisted great. Congrats Sapp on beating up these two
Stylistically and physically speaking, he stood a better chance of beating someone like Hoost, than say someone like Pudzilla or Fujita, throw in that giant Romanian Brute in there as well.
I have been following MMA since Igor Vovchanchyn. Nog was always a human punching, Hoost destroyed his legacy by losing to an unskilled Brute. Nog's chin is no longer iron today because of all the abuse he has taken over the years. But whatever Sapp is TBE!
No. Nog could absorb incredible amounts of punishment AND STILL win a fight. His heart was second to none. You had to kill him to win. When Sapp fought Nog, Nog was the baddest man on the planet. Destroyed his legacy? Ha ha ha! He has made the VERY best of his time quit. And kick boxers at that level are the toughest in combat sport. I thought you was a decent poster until a few posts ago. If you've been watching since the Vov days, I suggest you follow another sport. This isn't for you.
