You can't pretend like the color line didn't happen. It severely depleted the talent pool. Accept it. It's not childish it's reality . Dempseys record will always be only average because he never took on the best of his era.


Thank god for men like Marciano defending his title against great black fighters. Same with Louis. It paved the way for men like Patterson Liston Ali to get title shots and prevail over racism

Sorry I thought I had made myself clear ,perhaps not. There were only three rated during Apostoli's time,Richards, Marshall,and Bolden.

So I can give him a pass on them,especially when you look at whom he did fight, his resume is insane! Apostoli preceded Zale so their contemporaries necessarily differed to some extent.

 

The average age of Marciano's 3 black challengers is 36.33years.:think The only other black fighter of any significance he fought was 37 years old.:think
