Dan Rafael already reporting that Wilder may seek another fighter after Nohopeus match before his mandatory is due.
It won't be Wlad. Wilder's mandatory is due by January Wlad fights end of October. No way will Wlad be ready in time and no way could a unification match be made with such little promotion time. It will be another Molina type
WBC rules allow bypassing mandatories for unification upon approval of WBC. Wlad deservers it, and more than Povetkin based on 1. career 2. he beat Wilders' mandatory, Jennings, before Povetkin was Wilders mandatory.
If that will be the case I don't think anyone will be complaining, but if it's another HW who isn't even top 30 a lot of people will, and rightfully so....
If its anything other than Wlad or Povetkin, with the possible exception of a legit top 10 (who there's no realistic reason for him to fight prior to fighting Wlad or Povetkin for big money fights), I'll drop Wilder in my ranking and will cease defending him for anything. I'll even start ripping him for unfair things like Nichols again at that point, out of sheer outrage!
Wbc rules due allow a unification match to take precedent over a mandatory if they approve. However it doesn't line up with Wlad's schedule at the moment. Wilder must begin negotiations in October with Povetkin. Wlad at that point still will have not even fought Fury. Best case scenario for unification is summer 2016 with Wilder/Povetkin winner.
Wlad fights Fury in October, well before deadline for purse bid. So, they could come to an agreement before the time limit or WBC could extend it in consideration of negotiations. I'll admit, its a bit of a tight fit, and maybe its wishful thinking, but I still think Wlad fights Wilder the next fight after Fury.
How many times do I have to say it? The main reason why he's hated so much (Unjustifiably) is because he's obviously being compared to Mike Tyson and because of who he is and where he comes from (America). Look, standards of him suddenly elevate to astronomical proportions because of it, he's always being compared to Tyson and Muhammad Ali. He has to do things that nobody else is expected to, and I think it's bull****. Had Klitschko fought Duhaupas, everyone would be praising his name. Had Wilder fought Alex Leapai or Pianeta a couple years back, he would have been ripped for it, and that's irrefutable.
Leapai was a mandatory, not a voluntary. In between fighting guys like Pianeta, Wlad was fighting and STILL is fighting the best in the world. There's a difference. :good Wilder is disliked by knowledgeable boxing fans because of his abysmal competition on the way up, blatant ducking of his mandatory, reluctance to take dangerous fights, and cherry picking. You have it all wrong, time to take your head out of your ass and come to the real world like the rest of us.
Same here. Regardless of whether you like him or not you can't deny that it would be better for the division, and fans if he lost. He's going to hold the WBC belt hostage, and face poor-mediocre competition for as long as he possibly can, and while he does the division will suffer.
Wilder should cash out on an all America match with the much better Bryant Jennings. Cash out might not be the correct term.
