Pipino Cuevas in his prime was on a tear through the welterweight division till he stepped in to the ring with Thomas Hearns. Hearns at the time was still as prospect who was getting his first title shot. Most of us know the after that Hearns moved on to having a much greater career. Have there been other fighters who were looking unstoppable and appeared to have a great future ahead of them, who ended up running in to a much greater fighter in a similar fashion? One other example is Antonio Cervantes he had it happen to him twice, against Wilfred Benitez and Aaron Pryor.
Good ones! :good I would say Judah-Tszyu. I remember Max Kellerman saying something to the effect that Zab Judah would move up in weight and destroy Tito Trinidad. Huge fan of Zab at the time (Whitaker with power, remember?) but thought that remark was quite a bit off. Shannon Briggs-Darroll Wilson (Wilson not really that good) Kostya Tszyu-Vince Phillips Mosley-Forrest Six Heads Lewis-Mayorga
Zab Judah vs Kosta Tszyu is a great example! Fortunately though he didn't appear like an unstoppable force anymore Zab didn't fade in to obscurity and still had some great performances.
