What would be the DISADVANTAGES of only recognising one champion per weight class?

He's just an example. Boxing is a business and one belt per weight class would mean less sources of revenue. Ergo money would talk and lead to more corruption.

I dont think so,it could become bigger but depends who managing it, it worked in the past, right now though the change will make better fights, brook and wilder fighting weak opposition and it being all right becuase they just arrived on the scene shouldnt happen there should be more value in it, if haymon got they pbc going right it would good but i hate the set up.

But take Brook for example, with all the superstars at 147 with Haymon or Arum, without Brook getting working his way up to become IBF champion would he even been known at all now?

Basically to become a mando for the IBF you have to take a 25/75 split so you have to accept being a significant B side otherwise Brook would still be fighting on the domestic scene.

Also please don't compare the situations of Brook and Wilder. Brook is fighting guys he's mandated to (Dan) and guys at 5 weeks notice (Gavin) on a show he wasn't even suppose to be on but the main event (DeGale v Dirrell happened in the UK). Wilder is fighting the weakest opposition the WBC will allow to in voluntaries. Whereas Brook has put his name in the hat to face Mayweather, Khan, Marquez, Bradley, Rios, Provodnikov, Maidana, Chaves and Bradley amongst others.

if he was good enough he would work his way up the single rankings and demand would build for him if he was doing the buisness, i agree with you on wilder just using the example of the belt value chavez shouldnt be in line for a title shot and even though brook is trying for much better fighters than wilder

Yet you have argued that there are too many alphabet titles in the sport and no one cares about title belts

But if a fighter good enough but not attractive enough to Networks, would he be put into fights that would advance him to the spot?

And Chaves is in line to be Brook's mando anyway as a final eliminator has been order between him and Bizier after Bundu, Khan, Bradley, Porter, Ali and Alexander have all turned down final eliminators for the IBF.

Hype and money making building the hype machine is an important aspect of the business.

    :nod

And if the best fighter in the division is some jab master from Andorra who can't speak a lick of English, expect him never to get anywhere near a title shot.

If this was the case then it would probably be better having no belt at all..... Just twitter follower rankings
