Although a bit of era difference here, I just can't see Jake copping this one. Carlos could take a great shot (perhaps Jake might score an off-the-wall knockdown at some point) but Monzon would use his reach thruout and, for the most part, keep Jake at a distance with the jab and reach. Plus Carlos is going to put a whoopin' on Jake as well. Jake lands a good one? Carlos will tie him up, fighters separated, and the proceedings continue.
Monzon a clear UD winner IMHO.
Maybe a better 'mythical' matchup might be Valdez-LaMotta.
Same result IMO with a different fight. Polished slugger vs. brawler. Briscoe-LaMotta anyone? Tho Bennie wasn't quite as 'caveman' as Jake.
IMO Valdez might well rip Jake to shreds as the rounds went on.
Another clear UD here as well....

Lamotta eats Monzon jabs all night. Monzon controls the pace and distance with his long straight punches. Monzon's right would keep Jake on the outside. I dont see Jake troubling Monzon, he was as tough as they come but somewhat plodding and in a crouch. Hard to see Lamotta avoiding that piston jab as he tries to crowd Monzon. Monzon UD and if Jake really tries to press, Monzon stops him on cuts very late.

Monzon wins in a great fight. I see monzon by late stoppage probably cuts and facial damage mainly

Yes Valdez and Briscoe would also be great entertaining bouts with LaMotta. I got Valdez beating him also. Briscoe 50-50

Lamotta beat SRR once very convincingly, and again only to be robbed, if that Lamotta shows up against Monzon, it's pretty hard to pick against him..

6/5 odds Monzon wins but this is NOT the fight to put your assets on unless your stupid:huh

Nobody's stopping anyone here both guy's were tough and durable, and were built to take punishment..

Both Hagler, and Hopkins would be competitive with either guy here too:deal

I have no pause in picking Monzon. He was so adaptable against so many types of boxers. His strength and use of height and length allowed him to dictate the ring. Plus, he had an absolutely iron jaw that Lamotta's modest power wouldn't come close to denting. Monzon just knew how to win under varied situations and doing so by imposing his style and pace. He was a master at this.

I see a methodical points win, a lopsided one, wherein Lamotta's bullrushes are stifled and answered with sharp and powerful counters. At the end of this eon, Jake looks as though he has travelled through a thresher while Monzon is ready to bang a startlet.

LaMotta's tougness should never be dismissed. But style wise, he is made to order for Monzon. Every time he tries to rush King Carlos, LaMotta will eat a trombone jab or get octopussed. Monzon will control the pace and the ring in a clear UD win.

Good points, yes Monzon was adaptable against most boxers, Jake loved to brawl and maul, not just box, it's extremely debatable here if Monzon would have the physical strength to keep Lamotta off him for a very long 15 round fight?

Yes Monzon had a iron chin, but Lamotta's was just as good if not better, i doubt Monzon's jab would have kept Lamotta from coming foward all night long which made him more effective, just my opinion..:huh

They didn't call him the Raging Bull for nothing..

Monzon would have negated every strength that Jake had, would have kept him at arm's length, fed him the jab all night, dropped in concussive, punishing rights, and as he showed vs Briscoe in their rematch, he would fight off the back foot very effectively. No kd's or ko's in this fight, but a badly busted up Jake may have been rescued by the ref in 12 or 13. Any offense successfully shipped by LaMotta would have been easil;y taken by Monzon. Honestly, I think that Carlos would have had a rougher time with Gene Fullmer, though the result would have been a win over him too.

Monzon was stronger than Robinson,...he was one of the strongest middle champs. He would have done what he wanted to with Jake.

This goes the distance and it's Carlos whose hand is raised at the end a clear decision.Lamotta wouldn't be able to control Monzon ,he can't out box him and he sure isn't knocking him out.Jake eats the jab at range catches that right hand over the top and into his ribs when he closes . Monzon is rangy enough to tie him up and prevent him getting off with those short bursts of hooks inside.

Jake would be competitive . but there would be only one winner. Fifteen rounds would seem like fifty for The Bull.

Just how I see it. Monzon was a class above.
