trust me its £260k and that came from someone in his team. it has been in the pipelines for quite a while and when they secured the vacant commonwealth belt fight they made the offer. im not for one minute saying that gary cornish is worth that kind of money but like has been said already they are both unbeaten heavies and that catches the imagination for the casual fight fans rather than the hardcore fan.

i still think it will be a first round blowout for anthony joshua but the fact remains that the fight will sell and make joshua look like a killing machine to the casual fan and it will build his profile even more to the public without any chance of being derailed.

Yeah, because nobody has lied about what they're getting paid.

Think about it logically, if you're Hearn and you know he's probably got, at best, £5k for his fights, why offer £260k?

Depending on the show, numbers and if on a PPV card and with his management team I would not be surprised if he was getting a bumper pay day Billy...... Heavy weights remember 💷💵💴💶

Yea totally agree & also think myself he will be getting a fantastic pay day or why take the fight as everyone knows including his team he is no match for Joshua at this stage or any stage of his career.
Matchroom are facilitators for Sky & have to at least try to put on viewable shows as they are in a ratings war like every other promoter/channel. Although most people already have an opinion of the outcome I bet you they have fantastic numbers watching this fight!!!!!! 💷💶💴💵 its all about the cash

He is defo telling the truth mate, I couldn't believe it either when I heard the figures being mentioned. I don't want to name the person who has told me but they are very reliable and well respected in boxing.

I know mate it's absolutely crazy what Gary is getting for this fight but those are the figures. Eddie was desperate for this fight to happen whilst Gary was undefeated!

He will be VERY lucky to be getting £50k for this fight.
He doesn't belong in the same ring as Joshua, everyone knows it.
Scott Harrison had purses less than that for world title fights.

Cornish is being paid basically so the public get to see Joshua bang out a big guy for a belt. Thats it

I'm pretty much 100% sure Stiverne got less than this vs Arreola to become World Champion! :rofl

I got told about a month ago Gary was getting £130k for this fight. Makes sense on Gary's part. He could pay off his mortgage and if he gets a few rounds in and makes a decent showing he will be more well known, providing he does not get hurt.

True enough, but surely Fast Eddie knows Cornish would have accepted for a 1/4 of that.
Who else is Cornish gonna get £50k against?

Commercially it's a big fight for Sky to have the Scotland vs England senario & I'm sure they will be looking at the potential viewing figures with thinking Cornish don't really stand a chance and will make Josua look fantastic. Just think of all the Scots who will tune in to watch, if the marketing is done the right way!!!! 💷💷💷💷 So in hindsight the money he is getting ain't that big considering Sky/Matchroom budget for producing a show & possibly generating massive numbers both at gate & TV viewers. I'm sure Cornish will be getting a very good pay day and more than some of the champions get or the fight wouldn't be happening?
