I have to agree with this. Hookie seems to have followed Rahman more closely than I, and our assessments are the same. I think that his fight with Sanders proved that when he was motivated, his chin was solid and that he had the guts to walk through fire for the win.

On the other hand, Thomas was competitive against Coetzee, who I rate pretty highly (another hot and cold fighter) and some say he may even have taken that fight.

Overall, to me, Rahman edges Thomas as well.

    Hookie, you slighly overrate Rahman.

He may have looked better than Maskaev but still was KO'd by him 2 times.

1st fight was cold KO. 2nd fight would've had exactly the same result if Jay Nady hadn't stopped the fight while Rahman was staggering against the ropes again.

And 40 y.o. Holyfield was clearly better in that fight and was winning 6 rounds to 1 (which is the real score), don't know how the 3rd judge gave 4 rounds to Rahman there.

But yes, Hasim could beat Thomas (depends on which version of both fighters we'd see in the ring).

I'd take the Thomas who beat Spoon to be the best I've seen. And as these matchups are meant to be prime vs prime I'd take that Pinklon to beat any version of Rahman. So in terms of consistency? How is it relevant?

I see your point... but was he really that good the night he beat Witherspoon? I think it was more a case of Witherspoon not fighting well. The fight was very close.

It was very close. I also think either guy on that night would of beat the Lewis that Rahman beat.

Rahman just didn't seem that special to me. Besides the Meehan destruction and the Lewis upset the guy flattered to deceive. The Sanders fight was action packed and Rahman found a way to win but what about his falling short, twice, against the even more ordinary Maskaev?

Pinklon is one of those heavyweights who at least was considered the best in their time period, despite it being short. He was considered the future of the division and for good reason. The guy could fight, had underrated power and an enormous chin.

    Thomas KO 8 Rahman
