I would say just about yes, he's been the best at the weight for a long time, the last few years he's ****ed away hurt it but considering who else gets in, this guy is a definite viable member though he's by no means proved he's an all time great. Like others said, Kovalev, Golovkin and heck even a Groves or DeGale would help... Froch should be in the HOF if Ward goes in by their resumes atm too.
probably he is, but he still needs to work on his resume, if he moves up to 175 and scores a couple of big wins, then he seals his place as a HOFer
He's only got 2 good wins kessler and froch, Dawson is his only name after the s6 and he was drained. He could have done what froch did after the s6. fight bute (#1 outside super six) rematch kessler/froch then the likes of groves/degale. Not to mention the dirrells. But there's always a reason not to fight and that's on him, he could have been hof worthy already. Hes still got time left and the skills but people throwing around ATG already need to calm down he wouldn't make top5 SMW with that record
One of my very favourite fighters in the sport today but no, not yet - he's borderline. But if he unifies at 175lbs, he's not just a HOF, but an ATG.
Good points about Gatti:good, but popularity and being fan friendly aren't the only reasons he got in. Like him or hate him (I'm a fan), he is not only one of the bravest and determined fighters in recent years, but he is one of the most exciting as well.
He beats Kovalev and Butterbeef he's a lock He ducks them then he'll go down as one of the biggest waste of talents in years
4 years ago I would of said that he was on his way to be this generations best fighter 4 years later and how he took a dump on his career he is borderline HOF ( fame part he obviously doesn't meet anymore)
If I base it on what I deem a boxing HoF candidate: not yet, if he does what he's supposed to in the next three years then of course. If I base it on who else is in there, definitely he gets in at this moment in time.
Why do you say that? When you say one of the e best, do you mean it is in todays current top 10 across all of the divisions or just very high when you think there are over a thousand active boxers? What top prime undefeated fighter did Ward beat? What top prime fighter did Ward beat? Im not convinced his resume is greater than Kovalevs when you consider that many would have favoured Hopkins to have beaten Froch or Kessler before Kovalev beat Hopkins and then throw in Kovalev beat an undefeated world champ as well as Hopkins and Campillo as well as Pascal now, I would say there is a big arguement for Kovalev having a greater resume and I doubt many would put him in the HOF yet
Thats not a bad post. Thing is both Froch and Kessler had already been exposed and were older faded fighters in my opinion and both not on good form in the run up. You are correct that his SMW resume is not up there yet.
You don't get into the HOF by winning a super six, take that away and Ward ain't sh!t Too much postering, ducking, and holding to be ever considered a great. Too protective of his 0. A fcking coward who could have mixed it up with the best, but always comes up with some excuse why a big fight can't happen outside his home town.
