True, unfortunately Mares should be fighting in and out if he wants to outbox Cruz (because he's not knocking him out let's be honest), but instead he goes back and then lunges in, dumb strategy.

This fight isn't NEARLY as good as Mosley-DLH 1, and these two guys aren't a fraction as good as they were.

It was like Mares had no game plan. Bum rush him and if that doesn't work continue on rushing in.

    Round 12

Santa Cruz lands a HUGE RIGHT HAND as Mares is madly whirring his arms hoping to land a prayer; Mares' head snaps back sharply. Santa Cruz is catching Mares jumping in, pulling his upper body away from the lunging superman rights and letting both hands go to pepper Mares' face with uppers and downers. Santa Cruz lands a counter uppercut as Mares springs up vertically with a jab in the pocket. Santa Cruz is getting clinched now but carries Mares into the ropes and stalls to force a break. Santa Cruz jab countered by a right from Mares, walking into a right from Santa Cruz. Hooking exchange at the bell.

    10-9 Santa Cruz

    117-111 Santa Cruz
