Is Groves finished?

Fresh young fighter with very good experience fighting at Wembley in front of 80,000 tickets sold, 55,000 people inside the stadium with 1,000 touts weighed down outside with 25,000 tickets that they could not give away.

I know George and he is just starting on his journey to the top.

 

I think he will beat jack and become a world
Champ, will he be a brit great? No but a decent champion

 

Imo teh fights took more out of Froch, ever since those fights he started the retirement pitch but before he faced George he never mentioned it once!! If George groves had taken a sustained beating at the hands of Froch then i think that would have taken more out of him but he can mentally keep himself on top by thinking:

1st fight he was stopped early when on top
2nd fight he was hit by a world class punch that would have ko'd anyone and at that time the fight was 50/50

I think the biggest problem since has been getting motivated for the fights, the fight with Froch at Wembley will probably never be seen again and George will defo not be involved again(unless Groves becomes champion and the fight with Degale happens for unification) so he must ensure that for Badou Jack he gets in the right frame of mind.

 

George needs to go back to Adam Booth.

George Just hasn't looked the same under Paddy.

Just call it water under the bridge and start again.

He'd get great sparring with Lee, too.

I think Jack is being slept on, I really do. Don't be surprised if he wins; he might just be the dark horse of the division. One of those guys that gets better with each fight.

 

Even if he loses he still has a future provided he doesn't get knocked out or schooled. There are fights out there for him win, lose or draw.

Jack isn't great in my opinion and Groves should easily out point him.

 

He will beat jack but Degale beats him in the rematch, if Degale takes emotion out of it he will stop groves, chin as good as khans.

 

I think Groves will start to peak now.... MNo gaurentee smith or fielding will beat him at all

 

He's not beating Jack, people are acting like this is the same pre-Froch fighter. And since Jack has joined Memo he has that extra juice no pun intended lol.

Jack will beat him around 8-4 in a fight that will frustrate most as Groves will have his chances.

 

Think Groves will beat Jack on points but not by much.

This is his third title shot how many more can he be given? For the prospect of a massive payday against DeGale he must win.The rematch with DeGale would still probably happen but DeGale would take a massive % of the purse and options.

 

I just get the impression with Groves, similar to Macklin in a way, that he runs out of stream more than most as a fight wears on & that this has a big effect on both his power & punch resistance. As a fight goes into the latter parts, i just get the feeling that he's one good shot away from being put in serious trouble/being knocked out & that this can happen at any time. Its like from round 9-12 he's almost running on fumes. His boxing becomes abit ragged as a result of this, as a fight goes down the stretch. He's not exactly chinny, but it doesn't fill you with confidence either.

 

I do agree that people are sleeping on Jack, but I still believe that Groves will knock him out and become world champion on Sept 12th.

I'm not having it that he isn't the same fighter since the Froch fights. Let's get it right, after fighting in front of a huge crowd in a massive fight at Wembley, he immediately 'got back on the horse' as they say a few weeks later. It would be very difficult to get yourself up for a fight with a little known European level fighter straight off the back of two huge fights. I actually thought it was a good performance from Groves, Rebrasse is a tough man and Groves threw a lot of shots and done the 12 rounds fine.

He then took the Douglin fight, another fight against a little known opponent that everyone assumed would get blown away. Douglin was a lot better than people (me included) thought + he was a southpaw. As a few people have said since when he had been beaten previously he'd had some health issue + he was struggling making the weight. He looked strong and in good shape - especially in comparison to the Periban that Degale fought on the same night... who looked like he'd just finished off a KFC bargain bucket.

I do think though that Groves needed a few months rest (which he's done) to re-charge the batteries and now he's back involved in a big fight, I think we'll see a big performance.
