The Canelo fight in my opinion was the last Top Tier physically we have seen him. He is still just as sharp mentally though. He could beat 75% of todays WW with that alone, only thing is people are gonna complain that they are boring fights.

  3. Yep that was definitely it. He simply survived the 1st Maidana fight out of pure defensive instinct. It was still an exciting fight but he looked better against Canelo like he did against Marquez. He is done though, if he fights after Berto he is going to get beat the hell up.

Slowed down after the JMM fight. Looked noticeably slower in the Mosley fight. I think he made some changes after that fight.

After he "retired" after the Hatton fight. Case can be made that the JMM fight was the end of his prime too

I'd say his campaign at JWW was the last we saw of Pretty Boy Floyd.

By the time he moved up to WW to chase the big PPV fights, he was campaigning 4 divisions north of where he started. It's hard to look spectacular when you've ascended so many weight classes, and since he was never a knockout artist at the lighter weights, it makes sense why he's become a lot more defensive oriented in the higher divisions compared to how he fought between 130-140 lbs.

By the time he was fighting at 140 lbs, he was a pro for almost 10 years. I think he was probably coming out of his prime by late 2006/early 2007, around the time he faced DLH. I thought the DLH fight was a below average performance for Mayweather.

Even though he looked really good knocking out Hatton in late 2007 at WW, I feel it would've been a lot more one sided had Mayweather faced him at 140 lbs right after he beat Gatti in 2005. I feel like he was just coming out of his absolute peak at that time.

After Mosley for me, yet Mayweather never ages and it's unfair to his opponents according to some.

the thing is people mention his break from 07-09 but thats only two years and he's been fighting since he was 5 I think, thats still a lot of time dedicated to boxing. Hes not shot but he's not what he used to be

True, imagine facing these guys in those two years...

    Williams
    Mosely
    Cotto
    Clottey

That'd leave some wear & tear on your body, right? Now imagine not facing them over that amount of time and, instead, giving your body a break? You'd be fresh!

Hatton was his last prime fight in my view. I thought he had lost a step after he came back to fight JMM. Still sharp, but clearly on his way down the hill.

He just started to decline in the Maidana fight

he's at the tail end of his prime

and still way more prime than a lot of people younger than him

Floyd's legs looked super ultra fresh against Guerrero

HUUUGE difference between these Floyd's. He looked fast against Guerrero and Alvarez because they're slow, hell he looked fast against Pac too. But against Guerrero and Alvarez, they telegraph their punches more, I think you're confusing timing with speed. He's no where near prime, he just adjusts well to his age.
