Not just his left hook, its how he put punches together to capitalize on his left hook. How many times in his combo's was his left hook set up by a right cross to the head? Thats something, he would right cross, get an orthodox fighter to bend down and catch them with the left hook..

Amazing what a southpaw in an orthodox stance can do :).

Oscar de la hoya is my favourite boxer of all time. I have never enjoyed watching a boxer so much. He just went outside of his natural weight limit when he went to middleweight. Even the class lover than that was too heavy for him.

He was lean early on in his career. And then he smoothed out the higher he went in weight class.

God simply did not design him to weigh that much.

How much did he weigh when he won the olympics in 1992 ? He was 18 or 19 at that point right ?

I dont think he should have gained more that maybe 5 kilos upon that weight, given his small frame.

I he had just stayed at that weight I think he would have remained undefeated.!!!

His fight with Oba Carr was a great example of the damage he does bouncing on his toes. Bounce, bouce,b,b,b,b,b,b,b,b,b,b,b,b,bounce, WHAM!!!! LEFTHOOK! Down goes Carr!

De La Hoya was a Monster.

He had speed, combinations, power, reach, height, chin, bounce, awsome jab, stupendous left hook.

Any doubt why he is ATG?

Thanks for the link. I have always considered Oscar's jab to be the best in the business. When he uses his jab properly, De La Hoya can beat almost anyone.
