Ranking the 80's guys is a true cluster fukk...I didn't even include a guy like Carl Williams,he has a win over Berbick but that was after Tyson crushed Berbick,Tyson had a habbit of breaking fighters in half mentally/physically.Williams could be there to.The one thing that stands true is Tyson is the ONLY guy that stood out of that era which is why he is highly ranked, only Wlad Klitchko has been able to replicate that and has done it longer than anybody in boxing history.Lewis also dominated a very long time with arguably the best era so far.MOST just cant see a fighter for abiliy they are blinded by fame/eras and fables...this is why Tyson is certainly a top 3 guy of all time.Joe Louis never really dominated good fighters and his era to me is not impressive. The fighters he fought would get steamrolled in the 70's ,80's,90's or current era.

Anyone saying he fought no ones just don't know what they are looking at,even so one has to just look at his skill its on VIDEO,thats something not seen from a 80's Tyson since. No doubt I would have him top the 90's era and the only 3 guys I have beat him or a chance too is Lewis and both Klitchkos.

I believe he beats lewis and Wlad...Vitali is the only guy I would have over him,but certainly no one to ever lace them up would ever be remotely favored over an 80's Tyson pre 90's era..anyone who says any past time fighter from 1900 thru 1980's beats him in those eras really don't know what there talking about. To beat Tyson you need size/enough skill /chin and be a power puncher...Vitali has all of those qualities.tyson is more skilled than Vitali in the fighting skills but can he beat a adaptable 6'7 250 pounder who always seems to predict what a fighter is going to throw, giving up all that reach?well its anyones guess.

Hopefully this clears things up and not confuse it!:good

George Foreman is one guy I know for sure who would take Mike behind the wood shed.

Hi mate, sorry for the very late reply.

Another great post, and I agree with most of what you've wrote.

For Wylan to say that he didn't have a single noteworthy win, is absolutely ridiculous.

I also agree with your previous post, in that a guy like Tony Tucker would definitely be in today's top ten if he was currently active.

I am confident that if prime mentally focused Tyson was here today, he would clear out everyone at HW... Yes even the declining Wlad, who is still a great fighter.

I have yet to see another true HW with prime Mike's explosivness, speed and head movement.. The way he would put his entire body into his punches is still unmatched in my opinion. He was spectacular at his very best and would be possible trouble for anyone in history.

Who cares. Lennox was a FAR superior fighter to both Tyson and Holyfield.

I think how good Tyson really was at his very best gets lost in the two decades he fought on way past what he used to be.

That could be true... Not taking away from Lennox, but his size combined with his elite skills has a lot to do with those fights. Lennox is my favorite HW too.

    Most definitely.

And I truly believe that guys like Thomas, Tucker, Holmes, Spinks, Bruno and Ruddock would all be top ten fighters if they were around today.

Some or all of the following:

Louis, Marciano, Liston, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes, Lewis, Bowe, Vitali.

I see him at best going 5-5 against the above.

Here's the thing... Lol, first off, he doesn't have any notable wins. Can you possible s****e Ruddock, and Berbick in today's top ten, maybe, towards the bottom half, but the HW class is horrible now, just like it was from 86-89 when Tyson was king. The only noteworthy thing Tyson did was become HW Champ at the age of 20... The next time you respond to me, name a HOF fighter he beat, besides an old Holmes, or don't respond.

I don't want to respond to you after this.

    What's the point?

He didn't have any notable wins? :patsch

Only Bruno would POSSIBLY have made today's top ten? :patsch

Spinks was nothing but a LHW? :patsch

    We're done here.

    You are completely ignorant.

You've got to be an absolute fool to truly believe the likes of Spinks, Holmes and Tucker etc wouldn't be top ten fighters today, when Thompson, Tarver, Teper, Stiverne and Wilder etc are.

    Had this same convo recently.

Even some hardcore boxing friends are saying Fury will give him trouble... I actually think a 100% on point Fury will cause some problems for Tyson also... but ultimately I believe Tyson will find success to the body and ultimately get the job done. Funny how both Tysons have the big 'when they're motivated' thing going on haha

Already 928383 Tyson threads so I thought I'd just bump this one since it is basically the same discussion. Also my first ever post I made here, finally had the courage to sign up and post when I was intoxicated... good times haha
