Steward has become a ludicruous figure in the commentary game, his cred is shot to pieces. He sucks as a trainer and as a commentator.
This is just another example why

Oscar has a great, snapping and dominating jab but the best? I dunno.

Ike Quartey has a much better jab then Delahoya.. I remember a fight where Quartey destroyed and busted up a guys face with his jab alone.. I forgot the guys name though.

I cant think of too many that are better but, I am sure there are better jabs out there. Manny probably just wanted people to notice Oscar's excellent Jab

Oscars jab is fantastic but it wasnt even the best when he fought Quartey.

    Or Whitaker and Sturm.

    Whitaker had one brilliant jab.

DLH actually did ok against Quartey in the jabbing department. He didn't get the better of it, but there were moments where he was the one controlling things with the jab.

Now against Whitaker, he was outjabbed in every single round and was outlanded by a ratio of 4-1.

Whitaker's jab is much better than DLH's when it comes to accuracy, though DLH probably has a harder one.

That said I'd probably say Hearns has the best jab in the history of the sport overall.

    I'm not.

Steward is prone to hyperbole or just plain bizarre statements.

"Shambra Mitchell is as fast as Floyd Mayweather"
"Oscar looks as good as he did ten years ago"

My thoughts are that he better bring it to the last four rounds in the Floyd rematch.

Manny's comments during this broadcast are translated to:

"Watch the rematch between Mayweather and De La Hoya! HBO Executives, are you happy with how I'm hyping the fight?"

    AND

"Oscar, fire Floyd Sr. and re-hire me! This time I'll teach you more than just how to shoot a jump shot!"

I hate to hear a great longtime trainer pull that "flavor of the month" crap and prostitute himself as a result. ODL is a great fighter, but there are varying levels of greatness. Steward could think of a better left jab if he really tried to, why he needn't look any further than his very own Tommy Hearns, whose jab right away you know was better than Oscar's. He could look at so many other guy's jabs as well, so this is bull****.
