By holding the IBO title, he is giving it more legitimacy.

Nobody takes the IBO seriously. He should vacate the title to prevent further legitimacy being given to it. We aleady have the WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF and Ring titles.

Who did he win it from. Who did he defend it against?

Its a joke of a belt. May as well have MacDonalds written on it. And yet he holds onto the thing with pride:roll:

The good thing is that these ABCs are losing strength. At this point in boxing, I highly doubt any more sanctioning orgs. will increase in power. People are not giving a shiz about belts.. For example, Floyd holds a version of the Jr.MW title, yet he needs not defend against a credible opponent.

Canelo-Cotto can be fought without a title ad it would not hurt in sells imo.

In all honesty it is a pointless belt, don't get why any fighter would pay the 3% sanctioning fees as well as the other fees. With or without the belt any fighter with another more respected belt will not be viewed any differently.

I highly doubt Wlad has to pay 3% for that belt. Anyone with commong sense in his circle would urge him to drop it.

If he's willing to pay the fee let him keep it. It's very clear he's the man in the divsion. You don't need little trinkets floating around adding legitimatcy to paper champs like Wilder.

According the IBO website that's what every fighter pays if the purse is over a million. If he's not paying a lot then I guess it's not an issue but if he's actually paying a percentage then he needs to drop it.

Wlad at this stage is bigger than the belts as Lewis was near the end of his reign. I mean nobody takes Chagaev or Wilder seriously, everyone knows Wlad is the real champion, with or without the belts.

It is a more legitimate title than the WBF and that belt is frequently lended some credibility when a fringe contender or prospect takes it, and even when an over the hill contender fights for it.

The IBOs champions arent all that bad N of 147.

    Lara LMW
    GGG MW
    Zac Dunn SMW
    Oosthusen LHW
    Chakkiev CW
    Wladimir HW

    That said.......

Name another sanctioning body with a better set of titlists in those 5 classes combined.

Why the rankings while flawed are not biased and can't be bought in the Ibo atm.

all the belts stink....however the Ibo belt has some merit because of it's superior ranking system.
sure the iwbr would be preferred but boxrec is a better system than what the wbc, wba, wbo, and ibf have in place. ......you know where you buy your ranking.
