Will there ever be another exciting H.W champion?

The best guys in the division aren't too boring, only Wlad's fights are consistently a bore. Plus on the horizon you have Joshua and Parker who are both entertaining to watch and are hopefully the future of the division.

 

I think someone will come along again from somewhere.
A Joe Louis or Tyson who simply blows people away.
Whether it's Joshua we'll have to see.

 

There will be a Heavyweight who should be exciting, but the public won't notice.
The general public has lost interest in boxing. I'm not sure of the reasons, but I don't think the general popularity of boxing will ever return.
Hope I'm wrong.

George Foreman said it best. Boxing is like jazz. The better it is, the less people appreciate it.

Wlad has all time power, but few appreciate his defense, footwork, judgment of distance, ability to execute and hold a clinch, his ability to stay in shape ( Perhaps the best photographed champion of all time ) and ring smarts. Wlad has an all time jab and cross, and one of the most powerful left hooks ever.

I do not find him boring and appreciate the above. He fights anyone. My best guess is Wlad retires in sometime in 2017. When that happens we will have a game of musical chairs with the belts, with the champions possibly milking them and avoiding each other. It will be a political mess.

If you want less refined attackers, there is good news. The Super Heavyweight division is loaded.

Filip Hrgović in could be the man to beat after Wlad retires.

The subtleties of boxing are lost on the fruit flies, as i call them....they want nothing but rock em sock em robot action...fights limited to 8...10 rounds, no boxing, no clinching...a cage instead of a ring, etc., Foreman was right...and the dumbed down "fans" would rather have pop music instead if jazz...Justin Beeeeber instead of John Coltrane. Boxing is on a slow slide...

 

Today's fans would fall asleep watching a Benitez or a Napoles.

 

Not if they acted like Floyd Mayweather.

I have an interesting theory. Many of those who watch boxing really don't understand it from a technical or psychological stand point. They need good commentators. We don't have many of them today and those we have deep into their back 9, heading toward the 19th hole of retirement.

The younger talent replacing them is rather lacking.

 

It's not just about Wlad though. Wlad is not the division. The division is just not that interesting and the leading contenders aren't that good.
We were spoilt in the 90's with 4 guys operating at a pretty high level and with a strong supporting cast of sometimes excellent fighters.

I know historically the division is not strong but it hasn't been in a good state for a while now.

But frankly who cares? There are fighters much more worthy of our attention in lower weight classes.

 

When Wlad retires you'll start hearing about how exciting he was, just like what happened with Lennox Lewis.

 

This is the best of all possible worlds.

 

One-shot heavyweight ko power is exciting and Wilder & Joshua have it so...

 

I think he's hiding a glass jaw and sporting the legs of a new born deer. Wilder is milking his belt vs. a very bad opponent. When is he going to fight a top ten guy?

Is he exciting? Vs tier two guys, yes.
