I believe it will be Wilder if he survives Duhaupas. Wlad's trainer Banks today in an interview made a point of saying that the WBC has sent them a letter that they will not stand in Wlad's way if he wishes to unify after Fury. That little piece of news along with the puzzle pieces of Wilder choosing to fight the likes of Molina and Duhaupas rather than step up against better competition or to negotiate early with his Mandatory Povetkin leads me to believe it will be Deontay next.
Vlad wants to fight for the WBC title no matter who has it.....................Wilder refused to fight him and Wilder has refused to fight his mandatory Povetkin as well..................Wilder will continue to break the WBC rules as long as he fights. Wilder will fight all unranked fighters......................................and he can get by with it..................
They did enforce that mandatory, but ultimiately it was Stiverne decision not to fight Wlad, believing he could easily crack Wilders chin, and get a couple easy defenses. Plus, DK, had absolutely NO intention of ever risking his titlist to a K2. :nono
My guess would be that Wlad probably fights Glazkov or Briggs after his fight with Fury(barring a rematch). Glazkov is a mandatory so Wlad has to face him eventually and without a major opponent available for early next year Wlad could decide to take care of Glazkov while things shake out elsewhere in the division. Briggs is an easy payday and one that Wlad seems to be trying to build some interest in with his out of the ring happenings with Briggs. Clearly not many are excited for a Wlad-Briggs fight but it might happen anyways. Wilder would be the biggest fight but I think Wilder goes through with his Povetkin obligation, even though I wouldn't be shocked if he squeezes in another easy defense before he actually faces Povetkin. The way I see it is that if Wilder has to choose between Wlad and Povetkin than he's picking Povetkin. First Povetkin is probably viewed as the fight Wilder has a better chance of winning. I think both Wlad and Povetkin will be favorites but Povetkin will be seen as the more winnable for Wilder, due to styles I personally think Wilder has a better chance of upsetting Wlad but I'm probably in the minority there. Second, Povetkin is probably a much bigger payday for Wilder. So if he's a bigger payday and a more winnable fight than I'd guess Wilder chooses a fight with Povetkin first. If Wlad faces Wilder or even a Povetkin rematch the earliest it happens is summer of next year. I guess someone like Takam, Martin, Ortiz, etc could sneak in there but my guess is that its either Glazkov or Briggs next.
Didn't thought about this. Glaskov vs Klitschko could be huge in Ukranie but in my opinion Glaskov hasn't done enough to deserve a titlefight.
I think Wlad will get Glazkov out of the way after Fury, then take a voluntary defence. Teper might be a good choice should he beats Helenius.
Probably. There's been rumours going on about it, check out the Helenius thread in European forum. Some poster said It'll be in december, not sure if It's official yet.
