The fight lasted 4 minutes. The first round was 3/4 of the fight. As such its all I have to go on.
Even the totally biased pro-Brit Sky team were already expressing some concern about how badly Quigg was performing.

There is nothing to suggest it was part of some 'cunning plan' by Team Quigg. There is nothing to suggest things would have got any better for him in rounds 2,3,4,5 etc if not for the 'Hail Mary' shot landing for him.

In a perverse sort of way Kiko doing so well worked against him. If Scott had clipped him even a few times in the first maybe Kiko might have been just that small little bit cautious and not scorned defence and obligingly impaled himself on the uppercut.

Carl outboxing Kiko is - to me- far more reproducable and therefore more convincing.

 

ok some valid points but they can also be turned round,

quigg doesnt usually start fights that fast and likes to look at his opponents so i really dont see that the first round makes that big of a deal when he doesnt usually go out to ko his opponents from the first bell.

with that in mind could it not be more like that in the first round quigg was wanting to have a look at kiko and to work out the best plan of attack (or as frampton did second time on the defence) to decide which way would suit him best to get the win, in his just like carl his toughest fight to date.

i really dont buy all this kiko dominated quigg, if the fight had gone that way for 4-6 rounds and quigg pulled out a lucky punch then yeah you could use the ****ogy 'hail mary punch' but realistically joe gallagher probably just reminded him in the corner that kiko was coming in using straight lines with wide punches and to time his shots and at some point he will get to him. it just happened earlier than probably they and all of us expected!!

i cant believe that people are trying to dismiss the kiko fight with quigg but praise frampton because there isnt much difference in the kiko that fought either. frampton certainly didnt destroy him the 2nd time and that fight wouldnt have taken much out of kikos tank. at the end of the day with kiko you know you are going to be in a hard fight and kiko will be rough and strong but as has been proved in the past he can be outboxed if you stick to a plan. but everyone must admit 1 thing, quigg destroyed him quicker and more brutally than anyone else has!

quigg and frampton will be a great fight, i personally think that carl frampton will still win but imo they are getting closer and i worry that if carl leaves it too long that quigg will catch up with him and could well be favourite when they meet. i just like carls ability to box and fight and think he has more natural ability. 55-45 in favour of frampton!!

 

I've asked you before, and i'll ask you again, HOW MANY SCORING PUNCHES DID MARTINEZ LAND IN THE FIRST ROUND ?

Bar the two shots he landed in the last 30 seconds, most of his shots were hitting gloves and elbows.

Quigg didn't look great in the first round, but your version of events is pure fantasy.

Watch how many times Quigg throws the counter right, he was looking for the punch from the get go.

Frampton KO'd a tired Kiko.

Quigg KO'd a fresh Kiko, who according to you was " bossing the fight ".

Please deal in facts, and stop producing biased opinion to back up your transparent agenda.

And lets face another fact, the Quigg Frampton fight could be titled " the battle of Britain ", because both are 100% Brit.
