I believe DeGale's won a vacant title which means this should be a mandatory defense. It's a joke giving Bute a mandatory position for beating a journeyman after such a long period of inactivity. It should've been Ramirez.

I believe this is a voluntary.

Ramirez, if memory serves, stepped aside from the chance to face DeGale for the vacant belt.

Ramirez will likely be demanded into a final eliminator to face Porky Medina for the mando.

I think you should reconsider.Bute`s no mandatory.Bute`s a name and brings the biggest purse possible for the champion at this moment.

DeGale impressed me against Dirrell. Bute is a shell of what he once was (which wasn't the lofty level many believed at the time he had his zero).

I'll pick DeGale to UD him with 116-112 or 117-111 type of scores. Bute should have his best rounds later when DeGale gasses a bit but Bute's gas tank himself is highly, highly questionable as well. Surprised Bute is dropping back down to 168. I thought he claimed a full move up to 175.

Former titlist, big fan base, kind of a gaudy record... it's a good enough defense for DeGale. Nothing to complain about right now although I suspect many will with screams of "Bute is shot!" and "He's ducking Badou, Golovkin, and Groves!"

This is a better fight than it looks like on paper provided Bute's punch resistance isn't completely shot.

    IMO Bute is washed up.

I'd like to be surprised by a good fight, but I don't think so...
