I think the problem with Spike was/is that he lacks overall speed. This tolsdagainst him with BJS. (a burst eardrum destroyed his balance too which didnt help him look good either) His hands cant be 'let go' until his feet - and body - put him in position to throw landable punches. (I'm not sure this problem is fixable but thats another story)

CEJ presents an entirely different (though no less serious) threat than BJS. However the reason I am more hopeful for his chances against CEJ is that CEJ isnt a foot-speed merchant. His habit of standing flat-footed in close and hooking gives Spike a chance here IMO. Give Spike a target that he can hit and he is a very hurtful puncher. Very hurtful. My worry is that Spike is a small middleweight and CEJ is a very big one. Size matters and its not in Spike favour here.

Also remember Spike was no-where near as committed to boxing back then as he is now. He was hopelessly inactive and demoralised under British promtional management up to 5 fights ago.. Now with Murphys Boxing he is fully focussed, on weight, morale is good etc etc
Either way we'll find out a lot more about allegedly 'Unproven' Spike after this fight.

Last 4 fights = KO wins for Spike. CEJ will face the real Spike - if he ever does get in the ring that is. Spike will almost certainly do better than many on here suggest!

And who has CEJ beaten that says HE is 'up to much?' asyou say.

Remember CEJ has been babied all the way in his career. Everything in his favour. The best of everything.
Spike has only has proper management his last 4 fights - all ko wins.

I like the needle between the pair, but let's be real, not exactly a great fight is it? Definitely not one to help sell a PPV.

I like your patriotism mate but lets be honest the other way, Spike 4 KO's out of his last 4 but against who?

His last fight against Betancourt looks good on paper but Betancourt was matched very very carefully and had fought no one and in his next fight was KO'd again in 1st round.

In 14 defeats Milton Nunez had been stopped or KO'd 10 time sso not exactly granite in the chin department.

Larry Smith is an American club fighter and has been KO'd 7 times.

Anthony Fitzgerald looked like a blown up Welter even though i know he boxed at Light Middle but he isn's top class and Spike did very well to KO him with 1 punch! But if we are honest Fitzgerald isn't going anywhere.

I personally think the fight with Eubank jnr will be a good fight but if you look at both of their records against BJS Eubank jnr did much better than Spike and Eubank jnr's win over Dmitry Chudinov is better than anything on Spikes record.

Eubank gave Billy Joe a good fight he lost but he did a lot better than Spike who didn't win a round against Billy Joe. and Eubank beat Chudinov who is better than anybody Spike has beaten.

Spike is so bad and ridiculously overrated. Hasn't beaten anyone even half decent and struggled with a shot Matthew Hall.

Eubank will smash him to bits.

Can't get excited about this fight. EUbank strutting around with his fake 'world title' starting to really get on my nerves. If he's a 'world champion' as he says he is then maybe he should be fighting better opposition.

To apply consistency we have to call everyone who wins an interim world title a fake. Seems tough.

its one thing winning it and then going on as usual recognizing it as a necessary but ultimately useless trinket in itself. But parading it around and letting everyone know that you are the middleweight champion of the world :patsch fek off
In one of those idiotic bjs vs eubank rematch press conferences, eubank even said something to the tune of why should saunders fight andy lee for a world title, when he can fight him (eubank) instead for his world title...:dead

Korn & David Mac - I hear ye and I get where yere coming from.
But BJS was all wrong for Spike style wise and if you saw CEJ fight Chudinov - he fought in a way that should suit Spike, standing in close and hooking.

I think Spikes' underrated here: he has the punch and the mental and physical toughness to upset CEJ!!

I don't think Interim world titles are as devalued a currency as you do. They are reasonable hard to come by...
