Whilst shadow boxing ask a helper to shout a mark out. When he shouts out drop down a few inches immeadiatly. if you have to correct yourself to find both legs to make the squat then your balance is off.

Keep your feet under your shoulders.

Some people have less balance than others tho, it's something you can work on but can't really fix in the end. Maybe try to listen to your trainer's advice ? If you keep moving when you shouldn't be moving, there's a problem.

Find a safe place, and work at shadow boxing, with eyes shut. Helps a lot with feel. Another is find a climbing wall small one, and climb, helps you understand mechanics of balance, in movement.

Wider base of support = better balance. There is a trade off with mobility. Otherwise learning proper technique when you punch so you don't throw yourself off balance, being stronger also makes a big difference with balance. If you can squat/lunge under load then it's very easy to balance with no load. Lots of boxers with poor balance are just obviously far too weak in their lower body. More muscle in your lower body also lowers your COG, so without doing anything else your balance will be improved.

In Boxing, your walking gait, is your structure for balance. Any movement can be taken of it, after standing, its the 1st thing we learn.
