Matthysse has always been overrated

His title fight the other day was the worst match up for a title since Margarito-Pac.

 

Matthysse was never highly skilled but he's losing it, IMO. He's getting shot.

 

Matthysse had a 34% accuracy in this fight (postol 22%). He connected 3 hits on round 8 (all of them to the body) since compubox, make your maths. He threw like 8-9 punches per round (one punch every 20-25 seconds, a joke!) in rounds 8 9 and 10, connected 3 per round, again, only to the body. You cannot win if you dont want to win.

Dont tell me he didnt throw because he was frustrated, nobody's frustrated with a 34% accuracy.

He was not tired, that's a lie, a tired boxer doesnt go away from the clinch and begins to jump around, he just stays in the clinch. A tired boxer doesnt push ahead all the time nonstop to be hit and hit and hit again continuosly, he just goes back, or fakes going ahead to finally going backwards. He threw 280 punches, when in a low workrate fight the normal is like 400. You cannot be tired launching 280 punches, that's difficult even not training at all.

Dont tell me all that bs about the headbut, just after the headbut he wobbled postol again at the end of the 7th. He just decided not to win from 8th round ahead.

That fight is a shame.

 

Postol hit him straight in the eye and Matthysse had his eye open since he was moving forward. I first thought of him as quitting, but after checking the slow mo and seeing him touch his eye on canvas I genuinely can think that he was thinking about his health and gave up because of fear of losing sight of one eye permanently.

Matthysse has provided so many great moments for boxing fans with his fearless style and power in his hands that he does not deserve the ****storm he gets here. Postol was too big and too good in keeping distance and holding in close distance. Styles make fights.

If you have watched the slowmo, then you should have realized that his eye was not opened, since he sees the punch comming from a mile. He begins his face contraction way way before the punch happens.
