Could a ''prime'' Mike Tyson truly beat the Buster Douglas of February 11th 1990?

Funny how Douglas kicked Tyson's ass while also not being at his absolute peak...

What does that have to do with the question? And how do you know Douglas wasn't at his peak? When did he look berter, in your opinion?

He was pretty badly ill prior to the fight and had been on medication.

That's cool but my question was when have you seen him perform better? When have you seen his show that stamina, detrmination, and crisp execution of his game plan?

Well seeing as though Douglas isn't a legend of the sport I haven't watched many of his fights. I read he looked well against McCall, you can look a million dollars fighting other fighters but then look plain average against others. Heard the saying styles make fights? Douglas had Tyson's number end of.

Ha. So in other words you're just making the argument as a way to express your hate for Tyson? :good You should take it from those of us who've actually seen Douglas' fights and followed his career (in other words, people who know what they're talking about): Douglas was in rare form that night and didn't succumb to his usual flaws and weaknesses.

Funnily enough its Tyson that is tret as the mythical beast - - Tokyo Douglas actually beat, well destroyed, a 23 year old Tyson.
But for some bizarre reason there is a mythical Tyson who would beat Douglas .
The bottom line is - If he could - why the **** didnt he - he was 23 !!!

I am more curious why did douglas run away from a rematch? He refused a rematch in 1990 & 1999

Yeah because he was facing someone who's number he had. I've seen some of his fights including some of the McCall bout, I fell asleep after a few rounds. I'd bet every penny I have that if he'd had been facing Holyfield instead of Tyson he would have ended up on his ass again.

Holyfield was the mandatory challenger in 1990, and Douglas was offered 23 million dollars to defend against him. That's why.

Also, Mike Tyson didn't deserve a rematch in 1990, after he, King and Sulaiman appeared at the post-fight press conference trying to say in fact Douglas hadn't won fair and square at all. :patsch
One of the most disgraceful moments in boxing history.
